An ancient pagan ritual from the Celts, taken over by the Germanic tribes and later on infused into Christian faith becoming for the US what we in Italy would call "an average meal with grandma". Funny, the festivity still exists in some parts on Europe in its Christian form while in the US they remembered the message but not the faith-part^^
