Trope Talk: Downtime

WHOOF. It's been a hell of a year - let's all take it easy and breathe for a bit! And today let's talk about what happens when fictional characters do the same things! I won't be able to watch this until after work, but based on the description, I'm imagining a 15-20 minute long video with sounds of a burning log in the fireplace and the occasional "Isn't this nice?" Maybe some chill royalty-free music playing in the background.

I, uh... didn't expect this one to hit hard. xD

Me before watching, in the midst of a job search in a difficult market: “This looks fun!”

This pretty much sums up my (and many others) biggest problem with Digimon Adventure 2020. They REFUSED to let the kids have any downtown whatsoever. There was no time to breathe it was just constant stuff happening back to back to back. We didn't get anything of the kids trying to survive in this world, no rest, no fun, just action.

It's been awhile since I watched it but I believe at least the first arc there's a lot of focus on the kids surviving/looking for places to stay. They overall have a lot more time to breathe as characters without being railroaded on the plot

Is it just me, or have Red's last few videos contained more existential crisis that usual?
