The gang are joined by one and only Jacques Ze Whipper to talk about Blue's Raimi Spider-Man heresy, Cap's evolving role in the MCU, which Batman movie is best, and then Red and Blue go off into their own world to talk about Arcane.

Yeah I did not have a great reaction to season 2. I think the season is good but the story is flawed. The resurrection of Vander killed my engagement in the story, it violated stuff we were deliberately shown in Season 1 and it was a transparent attempt to paint Jinx in a better light rather than do the hard work of having her confront her crimes and mistakes

Hot Frosty was more fun than it had any business being. My friends and I were trying to figure out who the hell made the original snowman.

I share alot of Vera from Council of Geeks views on Arcane season 2- namely that the ending did not successfully convince me that Zaun and Piltover actually were on the road to recovery, because Zaun didn't ever really have their needs addressed except by Viktor (by him healing the sick and encouraging his cult members to renounce violence)- like yay the Piltover council has a single token person from Zaun (who has never shown an ounce of care for politics or anyone from Zaun other than Silco and Jinx), but Piltover let Zaun get completely overrun by Viktors Hive Mind Zombies! And we're expected to believe the general population give an iota of a shit about the people of Zaun now??? Anyway I felt like they completely dropped the ball on the political/social commentary aspects of Arcane, but succeeded in writing very good characters for the most part that had nicely concluded arcs so that was cool.

A few things: 1. Regarding the question of which Pokémon speak: most of the time in the anime, it's via telepathy. Of this category, there's Psychic-types, Legendaries, and Pokémon treated as Legendaries because the movie is about them. Outside this category, there's Meowth (the main outlier) Chatot (literally a parrot) and any Pokémon that can create illusions. 2. I don't think there's a single superhero movie that can be called the best. Superhero stories blend genres all the time, and a lot of these genres are trying to accomplish very different things. It doesn't feel right to compare a space opera like Guardians of the Galaxy to a spy story like Winter Soldier to an urban fantasy like Doctor Strange.

Disagree about Vander (Warwick being part of the game and feel like rebuilding him was an important part of what Singed was planning) agree about Jinx though.

Is there a way to listen to each of the AASS’s in a row? I love hearing them, but Patreon makes it kinda hard to listen to them while I work.

OSP

You can get the RSS feed for the AASS and listen to the whole thing on your platform of choice. I don't know what setting it's found in on the user side, but you can look online how to get Patreon exclusive RSS feeds. I hope that helps! -B

What I got from the superhero movie discussion is that superheroes generally work better with cartoons and tv shows than movies, as all the heroes (besides Guardians) that you mentioned having spotty movie records have great cartoon showings and I’ve heard it on good authority that the MCU’s best creation was Daredevil season 3 ;) P.S. watched the Batman Oscars clip, was indeed hilarious!

just wondering, will the zodiac pins get restocked by any chance? I wanted to buy them this black Friday but it wouldn't give me the discount and Crowdmade support wasn't able to help me on time before the sale ended and I just checked and they're pretty much all sold out, what a shame :(

I just found it, thankyou so much, this podcast has helped get me through literally hundreds of hours of work

They have not fixed One More Day. If anything, they've made it worse. And that's why you should read Jonathan Hickman's Ultimate Spider-Man, which sees Peter already married to MJ with two kids, and he gets his spider powers at 35. It's amazing!

Jason Veevaert

Or Spider-Girl, an interesting look at Spider-Man and MJ’s future daughter as a teenage hero in her own right. Went for like 100 issues!

There is a song by the Yogscast which is about a snowman's carrot where "I tripped and fell when I put it on, stuck the veg where it didn't belong", and I cannot say the name of the song in polite company.

There’s also that weird moment in pokemon the movie:I choose you where ash hears pikachu talk however that may have been a hallucination from a near death experience

OtherworldManeki

I excluded hallucinatory examples and dream sequences because I didn't think that counted as them "really" talking
