I believe there’s a licensing/pricing page on the new dedicated website for the project that lists three different tiers of licenses, one for non-commercial, two for different tiers of commercial; no clue on using it for your own engine, I’ll leave that to the actual makers
Hey thanks for asking - commercial use requires the Indie Licence at https://vercidium.com
There’s a free non-commercial licence only for games that produce no revenue
There’s a clause in the EULA that prevents on-selling Vercidium Audio as part of another product - i.e. each person that makes a paid product with your engine would need to purchase an Indie Licence.
vercidium have you ever tried hungry jacks? they always say in their ads that the burgers are better at hungry jacks but i disagree
The burgers are better at Hungry Jacks
Trying that story too ads. Profiling
Hi! Do you have a rough ETA on when the Godot plugin will be ready? Or C SDK?
They are both ready for testing now, but not labelled ‘production ready’ yet. The C SDK is included in the SDK download at https://vercidium.com, and the Godot plugins (for C# and native) are at https://github.com/vercidium-audio/vaudio-godot-mono-openal-3d and https://github.com/vercidium-audio/vaudio-godot-native-openal-3d-release
I’m currently recording a few setup videos for each plugin, as well as working on a launch announcement video for youtube. Let me know if you need a hand setting it up
Oh really! I was waiting the thing that already existed 😭
Thanks
Yes sorry I’ve been slack with my posts and updates. Need to post more regularly!
No worries, you make peak software
what isn’t clear to me, is whether Vercidium offers anything other than raytraced audio.. apparently it’s a “game engine”? for what kind of games? are there any vids or just screenshots showcasing what can be done with Vercidium?
Hey sorry for the confusion. There are two separate products - Vercidium Audio is the raytraced audio SDK available at vercidium.com
The Vercidium Engine is my game engine, which is available to paid Patrons
For a showcase for the Vercidium Engine, see the Forest demo at https://www.patreon.com/vercidium/posts/raytraced-audio-155391088
Also see the water rendering post here: https://www.patreon.com/vercidium/posts/water-rendering-152577841
okay thanks. and the Patreon subscription for the game engine (so not the audio) is €450 a month?
Holy moly, not that much. It should be $8 AUD
I think that 450 is the total of all current patrons
“holy moly” is what I was thinking. strange though, that’s the subscription fee shown. maybe the correct amount will show if I actually try to make payment. I wonder though, what exactly is the point of this “game engine” if you’re not ready to allow people to incorporate it into their project? I don’t question your technical achievement here, it far exceeds my own. I’m just not sure what the purpose is. Just demonstration?
Yeah just demonstration, for learning and education. I’d like to divide it into separate demos, eg one for particle multithreading, one for terrain, one for voxel rendering, water reflections, shadows, etc
For making an actual game I wouldn’t recommend it. It doesn’t have a visual editor, it’s all code
hi folks, just discovered this. Looks like it could be useful for our upcoming indie game made in Unity 6. Is there support for Unity yet?
Hey is this for raytraced audio? There isn’t an official plugin yet but there is a native wrapper here for the C SDK: https://github.com/vercidium-audio/vaudio-native-wrapper
The C# SDK isn’t compatible with Unity as Unity is still on an old C# runtime
ah, I see, thank you. I’ll check back here periodically
and yes, we’re interested in the raytraced audio
