EDIT: source code is now available on Github. Instructions for accessing it are here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/github-for-real-100189619

Hi all, you can now download the source code from the terrain devlog here.

The video from the last source code post will show you how to build and run the source code.

NOTE you no longer have to create a project_path.txt or engine_path.txt file, it will run fine without them.

Controls

The terrain project has a Free Fly scene, where you can fly around the map and see the sinking happen in real time. The controls are:

Escape to unlock your mouse

WASD to move

Space to move up

Q and E to ascend and descend

C to view cascades

G to view the grid

Shift for 10x speed

Control for 5x speed

Known Issues

If you move towards the edge of the map, you may see some holes in the terrain

If you fly very quickly in one direction, the high-quality terrain will take a while to catch up, which may leave a hole in the ground beneath you

Optimised Build

If it's running slow, select WIN_Production in the top-left dropdown and try again. This will run an optimised build

Can I ask what type of code you are using and for what Engine. And if it is possible to use this in Unity?

It’s all written in C#, check out the latest Free Friday post for a simpler demo of this heightmap renderer. It should be compatible with Unity
