EDIT: source code is now available on Github. Instructions for accessing it are here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/github-for-real-100189619

Welcome to the Optimiser community!

Download the source code for the latest video and the Vercidium Engine here!

And here's an accompanying video on how to build and run the source code.

If you have any issues setting this up, please comment here or send me a message. I'd also love to chat about the engine and all things rendering, optimisation and game dev, and see what you create with the engine.

Next Steps

Source code will soon be available for previous videos once I've cleaned them up (they're pretty messy!) and more parts of the engine will be available to you once they're tidied up, such as:

Raytraced audio

Voxel destruction

Lag compensation

UI rendering

Multithreading

Much, much more

I'll be sticking to a monthly release schedule on YouTube. I have a lot more optimisation and game dev content to share, but it takes me a while to create these videos.

I would also love to run some member-only live streams, where we can tackle optimisation techniques together and experiment with shaders and rendering. Let me know if this is interesting and/or valuable to you!

YouTube vs Patreon vs GitHub Sponsors

I was originally going to host this paid community on YouTube Membership for $5.99 AUD / month, but I don't think it's the best platform for a community of developers.

I started setting up a GitHub Sponsors page - which is built for developers and distributing code - however it's a lengthy process and I had already planned to post this video and launch this community today.

So instead, I've started this community here and I'll transition to GitHub Sponsors in the future, which would mean:

The engine source code is always up to date

You can see me working on the engine and future videos in real time

It's easier to fork the repository and discuss code over there

Thank you for supporting the channel, I hope the source code is useful and that together we can create highly optimised games!
