Hello everyoneaah,

I am doing a "Draw This in Your Style" with this here drawing. But I will also tell you the process. There is more information on my instagram post, but essentially I am inviting you to redraw this drawing in.. your own style! You can take creative liberties with the medium, poses, color palette, etc. I just ask that this lady is somehow about to or in the process of slaying a dragon. I will be sending signed prints of my recent 2 dragon slayer drawings to my 3 chosen winners in ~2 weeks. But you can take as long as you want for the fun of it.

OK the process!

I wanted to draw my dragon slayer girl more head-on, and perhaps emotionally stricken... This is very adjacent to my Azula drawing of yesteryear. She is not happy about having to kill this dragon.

This is my sketch! It is a loose sketch of her with semi transparent color on top. I reckon its nice to sketch out a persons body even if it will be under clothes for the sake of proportions and pose. But it can be a little busted.

It is very difficult to make a sword design, this is not something that is in my repertoire. I was inspired by swords of the witcher 3 videogame. My favorite most beautiful perhaps elven swords that are like braided. But hers are like separated...kinda neat

After this stage, I tried to better comprehend what I was going to do with the lineart. We need more understanding of what is afoot. I'm really into lineart lately.. Rendering is OUT, lineart is in.

This is the stage where I began to understand...and this is pretty much how it stayed. I think I just redid the face and said all good. I also added a dragon because there needs to be one. But I didn't draw the face of the dragon because she is probably looking at it out of frame!! I also didn't want to make it about the dragon.

I colored underneath the lineart, cleaning it all up and figuring out the final palette a bit more. I also gave some shading to the dragon.

I decided that the lineart of the dragon was TOO THICK and heavy and I didn't want it to take away from the girl so I did some very thin lineart with the same brush that I used for the shading. This is an inky brush that has a very large scattered splatter when you apply pressure.

Then I exported it into Procreate to add texture and edit the colors. I made them a bit more dull and moody... I also added halftone and blurred the lineart as I described in my max verstappen process videooo. I also added paper texture on top from true grit texture supply.

That's all!!!

forever entranced by your process. i love the decision to make the dragon less defined, but the version with the thicker lineart is giving tattoo design and now i want it as one fr
