Hello Patrons!

Welcome to the November newsletter! BADTOBER IS OVER PHEWWW. Also a note: I send out my physical newsletters before the previous month ended, and I have to say.. This version of the newsletter I post here is quite different! In those few days, I often finish shows or games or comics, finish Badtober, finish projects, etc. So idk, I guess it's sorta like a newsletter 2.0 version every month. Also, the digital ones are where you can respond to my question section! Idk! Rambling..

Announcements:

Calendars are ALMOST COMPLETELY SOLD OUT!!! I stopped mentioning them because there’s only like 20 left so the stragglers can get them.. BUT DO NOT PROCRASTINATE ON ORDERING!!! NOW IS THE TIME! Otherwise, I expect orders to start going out late November hopefully, early December at the latest! Thank you to everybody who has placed an order!!

In other news, I have an artwork in an upcoming show at Gallery Nucleus for the Avatar Aang show, if you are in the area! It's from Nov 20th to Dec 6th! I have one singular obligation due mid November, but after that I am going to be chilling big time for the holidays..I also have something REALLY COOL to show you mid-month!!

ART

I’M BACK!!! Badtober has revived me!! But my journey into anatomy has SUFFERED this month since I am so freaking busy!!! But I will spend the end of the year putting in the work. Not all is lost. But anyways, I created so many drawings for Badtober, and I love them and I was experimenting with different mediums and techniques and it was so fun! I like drawing again! At least traditionally. And everyone participating this year was crazy talented. Got quite a lot of new follows! I feel invigorated by my artistic endeavors and I hope to do a fun project soon! I am thinking of EVENTUALLY putting all my sketchbook art into a little purchase-able zine… But maybe it would have to be a book. It would be hyper cute to have a true-to-scale sketchbook artbook!

But for now, I am currently practicing drawing squares from many angles. I’m like, going back to the basics to learn things I actually never consciously learned. Anatomy is a part of this, but I decided to interrupt that with the squares because it's helping me with perspective and foreshortening and all that. 

PERSONAL

Everyone I know is experiencing tumult. So much so that I started getting conspiratorial and superstitious about it. I was creating explanations that were so unfathomable. I had to speak them aloud to see their ridiculous nature. Like speaking a demon’s name to hold power over them. 

My parents had much tumult in selling a house they didn’t want to sell and buying a new one. But they have pretty much successfully done that so hopefully it’s all up from here and everybody in the world has a lovely and peaceful holiday season and I’m really glad the nation is going blue this midterm season. Hope is UP!

TV/MOVIES

I’VE WATCHED ZERO SHOWS THIS MONTH!! Missing Walking Dead like it was my wife and I’m the soldier at war… I’ve been going gamer instead, but I’ve seen a few movies!

First, I saw Other Mommy. As I stated online, it was not that bad. I’m sorta becoming pretentiously unpretentious about the horror genre. For context: people online were saying Other Mommy was the worst movie ever, so bad and a letdown from the trailer. I KNEW it would not be great. The director hasn’t made the best movies and also, scary movies are bad more often than they’re good. And herein lies the problem. People have started to think that there’s the same standards for average movies as there is for scary OR- we’ve all gone too crazy about movie and art. Nothing can be mid. There’s a difference between idolizing musicians who make mid music, and kinda liking a mid movie. I wouldn’t go around defending Taylor Swift with my life insisting her new songs ARE good, but I WOULD go around defending Other Mommy saying it was a fine, even good scary movie. All scary movies tend to fail in the last third of the movie. It’s very difficult to learn more about the scary entity, fight it, and prevail or die, and have the movie still be scary. As was the case in Other Mommy, they defeat the beast and it's a little corny. But the rest of the movie was quite scary, and did some new stuff you don’t see all the time! We need to stop expecting every movie to be an Obsession or Hereditary type of movie. Some movies are just Other Mommy. Of course, mid things can be criticized, but calling it terrible or the worst movie of the year is quite dramatic.

GAMES

I PLAYED CONTROL RESONANT!!! At first, I was kinda meh about it, but I am now its biggest fan. It is soooooo fun to fight and I actually understand most of the plot!I didn’t like control 1 very much, probably because I was so confused lol, but this one is really touching my soul. I am obsessed with the combat!! And wow, it just kept going (in a good way!) I keep thinking I’m about to enter the final boss area but then I actually unlock an entirely new area of the map. I have no clue how much more I have to go. I am also really invested in my growth in skill as a gamer. Maybe since I hit peak development as an adult, I am getting better at games. #alwayslearning. But I learned quite literally after I  beat the game that if you upgrade all the different forms of the primary and secondary weapon, it increases your aberrant strength in general. I don’t know if this made it harder for me than it had to be, but I only ever used the glaive and crush, so I only upgraded those. But after I killed the boss I said screw it lets waste all my resources and try the other forms. So I did and then my strength like, doubled. And I discovered that the DRILL IS GOATED!! I actually think its sorta broken in how good it is… But I love it. I’m interested to know if I made the game harder for myself in this way, but it scales to your level so idk! Anyways, it was so amazing and fun and my exact favorite type of game with the open world and exploration and stuff :D I may now replay either Alan Wake 2 (beautiful) or Control 1 (for lore and further appreciation.)

For co-op… I really liked Midnight Shift! It was so funny playing with my sister and friend.. And a little spooky.. We also temporarily played Gamble with your Friends and determined well, there’s no skill required and so we stopped playing that. I just unfortunately don’t have the gambling gene.

COMICS

I just started Daredevil Born Again and it is so freaking beautiful! Perhaps the most beautiful comic I have read so far, which isn’t many. But even more important is, I FINISHED INVINCIBLE!! Skip this section if you don’t want spoilers beyond the show!! I really ploughed through this comic.. It was the most gripping a comic has ever been for me as of yet.. They are enormous compendiums, far bigger than Zdarsky daredevil, and yet boom I’m done in a month. 

I heard already about how Mark fights and defeats Thragg on the sun, but I thankfully completely forgot until they went to the sun and fought. It was cool but a little corny (the dialogue). Everybody is always defeating evil through the power of love smh.. But I can’t wait to see how they do that in the show. I cannot believe Oliver DIED as well as Omni-Man!!! I suppose I could’ve expected Nolan but not Oliver.. Although he was extremely annoying in the comic and I feared he would turn evil which he sorta did ALMOST. The entire part of Mark going back to the past and losing 5 years was weird.. I felt so bad for Eve.. What was the point.. But it did eventually all work out in the end for the balance of the universe so that’s really nice. Like, we all make mistakes and life is messy and cruel and terrible but that’s just how it is. I just don’t think it didn’t need to be 5 years with a one-time cosmic entity. Maybe they wanted to timeskip until Terra became sentient. And she is great!! I also can’t believe Robot turned evil. I moreso can’t believe he became a more major character. He was so… boring.. so C-lister in my head. And not a good guy. I wonder how Invincible clone Robot is doing in that alternate universe. Wow all of it was crazy. Like Mark just casually died a few times and also got Scourged.

MUSIC

Music section is back!!! This month I really loved Beabadobe’s Pylon album! It is so … 2000s or something. It has a good alternative vibe and Hayley Williams feature! I have also been listening to a ton of Curtis Mayfield and a bit of Marvin Gaye. What genre is this?? I need more. I usually discover like-music by decade, but there is too much to comb through in this situation. Genres are very confusing to me, too fluid.. If you have recommendations for similar music or pioneers let me know.. Or I’ll look up a history-of-the-genre youtube video. Love those..
