WIP - God of War (Mimir) Poster (Patreon)

We needed to make a poster for one of my classes and I sketched this out (ended up choosing a different one but I really liked this idea) so I am finishing it just for my own joyous purposes. 

I wanted it to be a really simple background with just his head as the focus. I've drawn Mimir before and hated it a little so this was like redemption for me. It is based off his final look as well as previously developed concepts that were super cool (but also like way too intense imo for how his character is). This shorter beard is both very cool and also fits in the frame better. He also had little hair on top in the reference. That's fun!

I struggled so much getting the sketch all good. His proportions are so off but that is what looks the best!!! I tried making it super realistic and it just looked bad. Also, I really wanted you to be able to see that he only has one eye so I had to bend reality a bit.

I am luving it. I am working in Fresco again to finish it and I am excitedddd to see it all done!!

I sketched (many times) and do solid colors underneath as a base and then color more purposely on a layer above it all. I will keep adding more layers and merging and yadda yadda till I am happy with it.
