Good battle but no way in fuck goku need anything based super sayian to best this bald boy

seels

A shame you skipped Shadow vs Mewtwo as I was really looking forward to that one from you guys but this is just as good 🙏

Aaron Donald

Where’s the Death Battle between Shadow and Mewtwo?

seels

Also thankfully they didn’t get into as many manga spoilers as they did in Goku vs Superman 3 so you’re safe there as well

Seraphina

Honestly, Goku would defeat Saitama in (somewhat ironically) one punch. They had to be REALLY generous to give Saitama anything like a chance. Base Goku from DB Super onwards would be more than enough. Saitama scales to early Buu-arc, maybe. Now, he it is true he has exponential growth, so he can scale up as he fights. But the power scaling in Super (almost destroying the whole universe just from the vibrations of punches) so hilariously outscales anything Saitama could do, Goku could stand there and let Saitama whale on him for YEARS and he wouldn't catch up with all of Goku's various powers, abilities, and the fact that Goku constantly breaks his own limits and gets exponentially stronger as well.

My actual thoughts on the matchup and episode itself: At first I thought this wasn’t as exciting when first revealed last month as I thought there were far better MU’s for both characters and this debate was only really popular back when OPM was premiering its first season and the verdict was pretty obvious as well so needless to say when this was announced a lot of people myself included weren’t excited as they skipped out on a Halloween matchup for this year that could’ve been something like Mysterio vs Scarecrow or something else. Regardless when I learned that Moro was going to be animating this (Same animator for Indie Cross and Bowser vs Eggman) I was excited once again and the actual animation itself was stellar as always but I think the characterization of Saitama wasn’t the best as I think he would’ve been so much more excited to finally find someone that could give him a challenge instead of being monotone almost the whole time and this was portrayed far better in Saitama vs Popeye. Overall though I still really enjoyed the episode (especially that Mob cameo).

JT

Oh sure, just post this outta nowhere while I'm out on a walk it's cool /j

JT

Doing any content related to this match up was the equivalent of making a nuclear bomb back in the mid 2010s lol. Feels like the weight has shifted since OPM isn't really the respected series it used to be though, sadly.

seels

(He’s in the top left a very blink and you’ll miss it moment)

seels

Oh and that next time is about to start so many flame wars as well 😭. The One Piece and Naruto fandoms are already at each others throats all the time and this is like dropping a bomb (Rooting for the future king of the pirates himself though 👀)

JT

Emotions relating to the actual fight aside, it "is" really cool seeing ya'll recognize so much from these two series now (and even catch the ones that aren't part of the fight like MP 100). Feels good to see how far ya'll have come since the older days where Death Battles used to be your introduction with things like DB and OPM

My thoughts on this fight differ quite a bit from the fanboys on either side. Okay long message incoming: The problem with this entire matchup is that they based the outcome entirely on offensive capability, when the win condition to the fight relies on knowing Saitama’s defensive limits. And we don’t know that. There’s evidence of goku and saitama’s power and attack capabilities. There’s evidence of goku’s defensive limits since we’ve seen him defeated, injured, and even killed before. We have never seen Saitama even be scratched. We literally don’t know how durable he is. Death Battle based their entire win condition on Goku being able to end the fight before Saitama’s power could escalate beyond Goku’s, but we don’t have the evidence to support that even being possible. We don’t know what could even hurt Saitama, let alone defeat or kill him. And they ignored that blindspot in their analysis. Saitama has never fought someone at goku’s power level so it is possible he’d take damage, but based on him fighting literally god and not even getting a scratch I’d say his durability is probably just as unlimited as his attack power potential. Basically, because we’ve never seen Saitama be damaged, I don’t think it’s really valid to state that he even can be damaged. He’s impossible to power scale as it stands for now.

Spence

Don't be that guy

Mosh Mia

I think they will get round to it. Hopefully the next DB! The animation and dialogue in Shadow Vs Mewtwo is amazing! Thought i was watching a demon slayer movie!

Spence

Can't wait for your reaction to Naruto vs Luffy in 20 years

DairuTV

its true. current goku has feats in base that are far higher than anything saitama has ever done. despite how they tried, you cannot actually quantify how much power someone can gain over specific amounts of time unless it's already a specific ground rule. that causes a no limits fallacy which could allow someone to say saitama can one punch even "The One Above All" from Marvel Comics, which is just absurd lol. So yeah, base goku stomps but that would make for a boring video

Ash

Yeah this battle went crazy. It got 3.5 million views in around 24 hours! To compare, Shadow vs Mewtwo got 4.5 million views in around week, and it was considered a huge success.

emma kotone

This one is pretty controversial, but as a Goku fan, I'm turning a blind eye 🤣.

Ash

I also need to mention, but Saitama needed around 2 minutes to catch up to Super Saiyan God Goku. Something we tend to forget, but that power level is Goku’s base power. In the movie, it was said that his body observed the power. That means it would two minutes to match base Goku. Yeah we can see why he won. While it’s true that Saitama has never been hurt in his own series, we have no idea how he’ll reacts to a blow strong enough to hurt him. For all we know, it kills him instantly. Oh well.

JT

Ngl these Death Battle post-match explanations and some of these comments remind me exactly why I stopped engaging with power scaling content a long time ago lol

JT

Tbh I'm surprised it's taken them this long. Feels like a match up that would've been done like 10+ years ago by now lol

K Kasher

Oooooh I’ve been waiting for this reaction MY GLORIOUS KING SON GOKU THE GOAT OF ANIME!!.

JT

31:05 I still think back on the time I accidentally interrupted ya'lls date night plans with that announcement 😅 Wish I coulda seen the looks on ur faces when I threw the DM beyond the speed of light 😆

seels

Agreed they did do a one min melee of it 10 years ago but that obviously doesn’t count. However with Naruto getting a new manga and One Piece being more popular than it’s ever been it does makes sense to do it now. I’m still surprised though as this season already has 6 shonen related episodes with this being announced now. Not complaining though 😅

Jason Rogue

Just saying they address this literally like 10 seconds into the video.

Jason Rogue

I thought it was retconned that Goku was as strong as God in base form, since God just became another level of SSJ he can transform in to.

Jason Rogue

Only minor spoilers in this Death Battle that i was afraid you'd catch, but luckily they were just split seconds that y'all didn't fully grasp.

Ash

Guess I wrote it incorrectly. That's what I mean to say, how God form is the new base. Whoops

Jeff

Looks like they're gonna be that guy.

Cynergy

Just here to be that toxic fanboy (because only dragon ball can bring out my toxic masculinity as a female) and say goku can and will win this fight. Im out ✌🏼

emma kotone

You guys should definitely watch the Naruto vs One Piece, by the time the Netflix show catches up, you'll have forgoten everything. 🤣

It will take decades, if ever, for the live action to catch up to the anime that has nearly 1,200 episodes and still growing. While I would love for yall to do a reaction to anime one piece, even if yall do 6 episodes a week, it would take you nearly 4 years to just *catch* up. So, honestly, if yall want to react to Naruto vs Luffy, I say go for it.

2026-10-22 18:00 Because ot wouldn't have been fair lol. Naruto's peak power at the end of Shippuden was so far above anything Luffy had until he got gear 5. Now Luffy has Gear 5, its a better matchup.

@KenBoCole I mean, yeah, but tbh power gaps that are considered so obviously wide haven't stopped em from doing "clout" matchups in the past lol

Ash

Oh, I forgot, but they showed how Goku is a “copycat” when he used Superman’s ultimate from Injustice 2, which Superman used against Goku in their second Death Battle. He was throwing punches and moving Saitama. But since he made it his own, instead of ending the ultimate by grabbing the enemy and slamming them into the ground, Goku just kicked them. Nice little detail
