Couple of end of MP 100 journey things I want to drop off real quick: MP 100 10th anniversary trailer: https://youtu.be/6UFhNlxsnPU?si=chcpBSrwfXWW9Vxl This was a commerative animated trailer that released a few months ago, which was made in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the MP 100 anime. Since it was only made for broadcast at a few limited events, there's no dub for it I'm afraid. I imagine seeing this would've felt like reuniting with old friends if you had kept up with the show up to its ending years prior. And just for the hell of it, some background on Reigen's Japanese VA, Takahiro Sakurai. He's known as being Cloud Strife from FF7, Giyu Tomioka from Demon Slayer, and also Suguru Geto from JJK (he also voices one of my top 3 JoJo characters btw) "Mob Psycho 100 Reigen: The Man With Level 131 Max Spirit Power!" This one is just a book recommendation from me. It's a spinoff/sequel manga that takes place during the time skip between Reigen stopping Mob's rampage and the very final moments of the series. It revolves heavily around Reigen and Tome, with this story explaining how she managed to become Reigen's "secretary". This is usually the part where I'd do some crazy shit like recount the whole story, but tbh, I can't really bring myself to detail it any further than that. I really do just suggest checking it out if ya have a morning/evening off if you like these characters even half as much as I do. Hope this gets animated as OVA or something someday. Reminder for the Mob vs Tornado Death Battle: https://youtu.be/KYTaY21z07I?si=YJAH1Pn6hrcnpbjo Bet you can't guess what the theme for this one was /s. Now that you're up to speed there's no need to worry about spoilers (at least for MP100, OPM-wise it shouldn't be anything Goku vs Saitama didn't already spoil).

Well guys, its been a great ride! I am glad we got to watch one of ONE'S completed animes together! I'm sad we will probably never see One Punch Man fully animated. anytime soon, but Mob Psycho was a great work from ONE! Looking forward to starting Solo Levelling with yall next week!

It's a bittersweet thing to say, but there we have it, the end of MP 100. A show that managed to come into my life at just the right time and one that I can now understand why some hold it to be "one of the few 'perfect' anime". It has a memorable, relatable, and lovable cast of characters. It's story has little to no dips in pacing yet manages to be impactful despite being on the simpler and shorter side. The animation and OST are absolutely stellar, both being backed by one of the most consistent displays of production value that does more than enough to do the source material justice. Has no needless fan service or any of the uncomfortable moments that tend to stem from cultural differences. Voice acting is great on both the Japanese and English side (albeit the stigma with Crunchyroll's union dispute decisions). It not only "has" an ending (not every anime even gets that much), but an ending that happened on the creator's terms and leaves pretty much the majority of people satisfied. Certainly a show that's become one of my favorites and one I've reserved as an easy recommendation for introducing people to anime. The only real "criticism" I suppose I have is that because that house fire fake out went so extreme with how dark it got just to turn out to be nothing, I wasn't really "SCARED" scared about anyone dying after that point. But that's all.

2026-10-29 22:00 E11: might expand on this later, but im not even seeing it as good vs bad parts of self (westerners so much love to make it good/evil) but more yin/yang in terms of light and dark -- everything has to be melded in balance. Mob has always been all the passive kind good nice qualities since that first explosion before the series, but we can't suppress our edgier and self-oriented qualities either. (For example, it's "self" - ish for Mob wanting to date this girl, but it's not wrong, our desires help motivate action vs passivity -- but we see how monstrous it becomes when it subsumes everything in his way.) All of these feelings are part of us and we can't be strong in good ways unless we embrace it all. (The most blatant exploration of this is Aronofsky's film "Black Swan" w/Natalie Portman.) Ken got more into this with his explanation, but yeah you both ended up where Mob needs to label both parts of himself as HIM rather that splitting himself in two and suppressing one out of fear. I'm with Ken on predictions for the finale. I believe in Shigeo Kageyama!! (He might need to stop using the name Mob, which is a symptom of his self-splitting.)

36:27 The "previous OP starts playing during emotional story beat" cliche is the best "anime bullshit" trope and I won't hear otherwise

JT

39:29 I may or may not have been foreshadowing this when I said Dimple always his way back. Who knows

JT

45:38 that awkward feeling when you've never been happier to see a character cry his eyes out

2026-10-30 04:00 Well, guess that's that. While I voted for Solo Leveling as MP 100's replacement, I actually did so for the express purpose of: 1) Just getting it outta the way. Felt so indifferent on it that I tagged out after the first 8 eps, but it's so popular that having it come on the channel feels like an inevitability. 2) Giving myself more breathing room. Between moving and the holidays, I think my schedule's good with just P5R and Dandadan for a while lol. Other options that were there like Vinland Saga are currently on my read/watch list, but tbh I've kinda had my fill on the whole "catch up before it hits the channel" business that I've been doing a lot this year.

Mobs journey of self-discovery was great. Also Tsubone is the GoAT for waiting for Mob to show up, IMO that shows you how much she cares for him, and IMO, the reason she rejected him, is because she knows Mobs crush was only superficial, and shes alot more serious about dating to even consider a superficial fling, so I doubt she would even consider dating someone who she isnt really familiar with.

Forerunner

Mob laughing at the end was the perfect way to end the show, in my opinion. When we first met Mob. He told Dimple that he couldn't laugh even if he wanted to and called himself "terrible." It's awesome seeing how much Mob has grown as a character.

E12: Yes! :) This finale went right where we had anticipated it might go and where it NEEDED to go, resolving not only Mob’s inner turmoil but also addressing Reigen’s arc as well. I was choked up for much of this episode, as Shigeo wrestles with himself to determine how he will move forward in life. It was so beautifully handled – even to the degree that it acknowledged both the Mob we knew AND his 100% dangerous side were BOTH authentically Shigeo, neither having more validity than the other – they both come to terms, both accept the other, and the two parts are finally one again, whole and complete. (Ursula LeGuin’s “A Wizard of Earthsea” explores similar themes.) And Reigen, while denying he deserved to be called “Master” because of his ongoing deceitfulness, once again showed why Mob does use him as a role model – he set the example of admitting and embracing his whole self (even the embarrassing parts), as part of self-love, making it possible for Mob to do the same. And he does this with unrestrained honesty and complete vulnerability, since Mob could have killed him if he wished… I’m with you guys, I was flabbergasted and then ecstatic Dimple was still alive! I mean, he comes in clutch again to give Reigen that important opportunity to speak and then kind of fades out of the plot, but… it’s great he managed to survive E6. It was extremely touching for Mob to return from seeing Tsubomi to cheerily say, “Rejected!” – and then start to cry… but NOT suppress the tears. God, that’s such a hard lesson to learn. I had a bad formative moment as a kid because when I would get really angry or hurt, I would cry… and I felt like my father thought it was shameful. I remember swearing to myself (as a little kid!) that I would never let myself cry again and the coldness that settled over me, although that coldness helped me feel in control. I let that feeling of shame control me for so many years, it took me well into my adulthood to loosen myself back up and accept that my tears were nothing to be ashamed of, whether I was angry or sad. I got choked up watching Shigeo allow himself, finally, to cry… without feeling the need to summon any kind of power. It was lovely. And to balance it out, then, the final shot after Reigen faceplants in his cake, of Shigeo laughing without any self-consciousness or care in the world – THAT was the image the show left us with, and it was so beautiful. He’s surrounded by people who love him, and he also loves himself, and so he’s gonna be okay. Everything is right as rain. Self-acceptance is so hard. We saw it with Mob here, we have seen it with Will in our Stranger Things watch too. Sometimes I think I have done it, but it’s easy to fall back into old ways of thinking – feelings of embarrassment or shame, especially when I want someone to like me, for example – and then realize I’m back in a cage of sorts and again have to really face who I am once more and be okay with me. Watching this finale today was therapeutic in making me reassess and reminding me that I’m okay (warts and eccentricities and all); it’s never an excuse to not work on behavior I want to change, but I can still embrace myself and not apologize for (or try to hide) who I am. Bethany’s comments reminded me of the phrase, “Anything worth doing is worth doing badly.” Because otherwise you never really get good at it. It’s okay to do things you want to do, if you enjoy it, even if you suck at it. I’ve had to tell myself that a lot. I’m afraid sometimes it has inhibited me even from doing things I know I’m honestly good at (like writing) because I fear I won’t achieve the level of excellence I hope for… but the perfect is the enemy of creativity and motivation. Somehow you need to get in that zone where you are just lost in the art of doing/creating, rather than worrying about all the mistakes you could make… I have no notes on your Top Five, I had the same ones, with Teru at #6. Anyway, Mob Psycho 100 has been the remarkable journey I had heard it was, and I’m glad we all took it together. What a wonderful show.

2026-10-30 04:00 Lol, i was kinda like "Let's just do SL and get it done, vs trying to dodge it" too. There are things I like about it, there are just also some huge problems with it, and some other shows more truly deserved all that attention it got instead. I'm kinda in the same boat lately, I got in over my head with reactions and might need to drop a few things. I have Monster and Cyberpunk Edgerunners with other reactors, but I'm watching MHA (and now SL) and CSM (soon to probably be Dandadan) and Stranger Things here, so it's a lot.

Yeah I really like how they ended it between them both (with their friendship developing) rather than just superficially dating.

I know she wasent entitled to say yes to mob but I will never forgive tsubomi for waiting that long to make mob cry I don’t care, I will have the most unjustified hate for this character BUT I DONT CARE BECAUSE HE CRIED.😭😭
