“…Should I play the Final Fantasy VII remake? I am worried because the sequel to the remake looks truly strange. Anyway we just wrapped up the first DX Reunion and are now moving on to the second DX Reunion.”

I think you are obligated to play original FF VII (or at least the recent Switch release)- Season 4, then do the FFVII Remake-Season 5 part 1, and then do FFVII Rebirth-Season 5 part 2. And in between you have to play some random game Billy tells you to.

As a turn based RPG virgin, I caved on the FF6 pixel remake and it's just staring at me from my Xbox library. I'm just can't bring myself to play it as it feels make or break for my enjoyment of turn based combat... Why am I overthinking FF6??

Thing about the FFVII Remake is: nobody played FFXII, but that's where the new battle system first showed up. It's this WEIRD hybrid of turn-based actions that charge up, like old Final Fantasy games, but with realtime movement and positioning. It's more complicated than it needs to be, but once it clicks, it should make sense. I've always thought the best story they ever told with that series was FFVI, and there are a bunch of great ways to play that game. Still has a LOT of grinding, but the plot and characters are top-tier, but IV is where it turns the corner and really finds itself. Enjoy 'em!
