I feel like I have to vote for Call Me By Your Name because it's the only one of these I haven't seen so there's my excuse to watch it ... and the others just aren't all that good to be honest (except for Love Actually, which is okay). It would be fun to see you react to Romeo + Juliet just because its so bizarre. 10 Things isn't all that bad. A good one to consider for your next poll would be Sleepless in Seattle, a Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan classic.

CMBYN book was written by a self confessed pedophile which is why one of the characters is underage & the other is a grown ass adult man. I just feel like people should know that going into it. I would suggest Moonlight instead but it’s your channel, do what you will with this lol

I cannot imagine watching CMBYN after everything that happened with Armie Hammer. I can understand appreciating the film for the cinematography and aesthetic standpoint but casting him when he looks so much older than twenty four makes my skin crawl. As does the age gap. It also reinforces the stereotype that gay men are predators. The author also admitted to being attracted children as young as twelve years old. So, for me, that reaction would be a hard pass.

MotoDork

Agreed. I'd much rather see a reaction to Love, Actually, which is a very fine film.

Call Me By Your Name was alright. Much better ones on the list tbhough.

Man, some tough choices 🤔 I almost want to choose CMBYN just so we can just get that one out of the way to get to the other ones (no shade to that movie, I just prefer those 🤣). It’s a toss up between The Notebook and Love Actually for me 😄

It’s funny because there’s a reactor on YT who hates kissing scenes and you’re over here giving us all the smooches 😆 Guess which reactor I prefer 😉

10 things i hate about you is loosely based on taming of the shrew. It’s utterly hilarious and stars young julia stiles, heath ledger and joseph gordon-levitt. Witty, hilarious. Must see. So that has my vote. Love actually is my second choice from this list. Amazing cast and wonderfully written. It’s set at christmas time so it might be a nice watch to leave until that time of year. Though i don’t think that holiday movies are only good at those holiday times, they just hit a little closer to the heartstrings when you are surrounded by that holiday season. One that you don’t include (that isn’t at all a comedy but a great romance) is a walk to remember with mandy moore.

Yes he openly admitted to having attraction to 12 year old girls. But Emilio isn't underage in either the book or the film. Book was written in New York, at that time age of consent was 17 (age of Emilio), legal age in Italy is 14. So by any measure be it where the author resides and where he wrote the book or the setting of the characters in the eyes of the law, neither character is a minor. Nor does the time the book was written or the time period it was set in change the law in any regards to the legal nature of the relationship portrayed.

Love Actually all the way everyday.

In defense of Call Me By Your Name, the primary criticism is about the age gap between the two love interests, but the author does go out of his way to establish power dynamics and levels of maturity that put the two characters on an equal level, so clearly neither is being taken advantage of. I read the book before seeing the movie, so I can't really say whether this is as clear from the film alone. Additionally, as someone else already mentioned, both characters are of legal age for the setting and time period. They're fictional characters, and the author is not fetishizing the youth of the younger character. If he had arbitrarily written 18 instead of 17, I don't think half as many people would be talking about their ages, and it would have changed nothing about the plot. Finally, regarding the interview everyone is talking about. He was clearly talking about intrusive thoughts and the way we can't talk about them for fear of being vilified, which is exactly what is happening in this comment section. "if you talk about it, you're almost guilty of it. I do not commit the act, but you have no idea of the scabrous and disgusting ideas that come to our minds. How is it possible that he thought of something like that? But it is what happens in our mind."
