I do everything on a budget. A small one. This is my home and work space. The side you don't see.
The studio that I teach from and film/record in is my old bedroom at my parents house. It's cosy, I get to see my folks almost daily, and after years of recording and playing music I've found a flow there that works well for me. It's basically just a sofa, a plastic desk, my laptop, and the mics / lights I've slowly accumulated.
I live a short walk away, in a little cosy, bare brick tiny house that I have lovingly labelled my "shed". It's built at the back of an old townhouse, has a log burner for heat, no hot water, and a higgledy piggledy layout. Most importantly, it's the cheapest place I could find in town. I love it. This is my little work station where I mix and edit while the fire crackles behind me.
After about a year here (my first time settling down in my own home, since sporadic traveling over the years), I'll soon be moving again. Next month I am venturing into city life. It will be my first time living in a city.
I'll miss my fire, my neighbours, my little private garden, hearing the birds on my roof, lighting candles and wrapping up in the cold, but the opportunity presented itself and... well... I enjoy new adventures.
So, I have a month to wrap everything up here and start afresh. I'll be living / working in one room again. Sleeping in my studio. But I will also have access to a MUCH bigger kitchen, central heating, hot water, a friend to live with, a lovely old woodland in one direction and the city centre in the other.
My goal is to finish both my online course and my handpan album before I leave. Eeeeee lots to do!!!!
Thank you for having my back as I go π
