UN, New York City
–Mike–
So, he was ushered, very carefully, into a suite that was reserved for high class diplomats or heads of state, all the while people kept telling him that he was early and asking if he would prefer to stay in one of the many five star suites that the UN had booked throughout the year.
He rejected those offers, as it was kind of fun to see what they would do with his sudden arrival. He had no idea what the people here were expecting when they invited him, maybe like him flying over with his Kaiju and then making a show of it or something? Either way, him coming here through the main entrance, all by himself, most definitely spooked many of them. Atleast the regular staff was spooked.
On top of that, being inside the building allowed him to listen in on conversations that people thought were safe, but apparently, HYDRA hadn’t received the message from Coulson about his Vibranium suit, because they had prepared something that they called a Nullifier. And judging by the way they constantly said the word “mutie” over and over again, he could hazard a guess as to what that item might be.
So, they wanted to use something that could nullify mutant powers, and then what? Capture him? Kill him? Humiliate him? Make a mockery of him on stage so the world would not take him seriously?
Anyone with a few brain cells would prefer using just the threat of that to get their way, but since he knew who he was dealing with here, he was sure that he was going to get a group of people who would be very confident that their plan was just going to work out flawlessly.
Shaking his head, he withdrew his senses and looked at the suite type room given to him, with its own bathtub, balcony with a beautiful view, and more. Unfortunately, he knew that every single inch of his room had mic as well as video coverage, so he just plopped his ass down on the bed, and with a thought, reached out to the telepathy network that he had created with Xavier.
See, Charles Xavier always had the ability to have a planet wide range for his power. It’s just that his body would not have been able to support that. He just did not have the necessary energy as well as the body resiliency to process all that information without his brain overheating and shutting down.
Now, he still can’t do that. He was not stupid enough to permanently empower a mutant whose views did not fully align with his. No, he had done something else.
Leveraging the island’s ability to empower any mutant currently on top of it, and his own limited telepathic abilities, he had amplified Xavier’s telepathic field, but the switch for it was with him. Since he had a metaphysical connection with the island, no matter where he was on the planet, he could just flick that switch on and juice up Xavier’s natural telepathic range so that he could have a secure communication method.
If only there had been a system enforced method of communication with his familiars. He would finally have found a use for Alcina. As she was right now, she was downright useless to him, and she knew that as well; hence her recent depressive episode, as she just lounged and roamed about the island aimlessly.
“Yes?” Xavier responded.
“Any issues?”
“None that we can find. We have had Jets circling around the Fog, but that is expected behavior. Eric has been out of the Fog, scrambling with the Jets' path every time they come too close, but once again, that has been normal.”
“Tell Eric that he has authority to shred the Jets if he deems them a threat. Just make sure that none of the pilots die. Don’t bring them in, though. Just let them fall safely in the ocean below. Tell Storm to be on standby as well.”
“Are you expecting trouble?
“I am always expecting trouble. But, yes, they have some scheme cooked up for me here, and I am very interested in that. Anyway, I might bring back a few people with me that might not be that trustworthy, so prepare for that as well.”
“Yes, sir.” He got the distinct sensation of amusement from Xavier. “Anything else, Your Highness?”
He snorted, “You joke, but that is exactly what the outside world will look at me as, even though I have no interest in becoming a heavy handed king.”
“So I have seen.”
And there was that. With a flick, he turned off the giant power source that was the island. Seriously, its ability to supercharge any ability or even just act as a power source for any mutant ability was unmatched.
The word Nullifier made him remember some mutant kid who had like, an anti mutation field around him, and his blood that was used by the government to create mutant suppression vials. Once injected, most mutant power expressions were shut down temporarily. If he recalled, the government lost the kid before they could come up with anything permanent.
Maybe the kid lost his life due to the experiments, or maybe someone rescued or killed him. Either way, he was curious if the same was the case here, and if he could rescue the kid as well. It depended on how he was being treated, he supposed.
After that, he just lay there, on the bed, looking up at the ceiling, unblinking, knowing full well that this would unnerve the people who were tasked with surveillance here. He stayed exactly the same for over an hour, until finally, he felt someone approach his room with frantic footsteps, likely to check if the surveillance had failed them or not.
They stopped right outside his room, took a deep breath, before knocking on the door twice, “Room Service.”
He snickered internally before saying, “Come in.” This time, he had deliberately made sure that the wind flow was manipulated such that the voice seemingly came from right behind the guy. The guy turned so fast he almost heard the whiplash, until he chuckled and got up from the bed.
The door opened, and a guy who was most definitely not room service poked his head in. Looking at him with sweat on his forehead, the man asked, "Everything alright, sir?”
He nodded, “Yup. So, how long until my time is up? I assume I’ll get to speak? I didn't exactly receive an agenda for today’s meeting.”
“I am terribly sorry for that, sir. I am sure it must have gotten lost in the mail.”
He just deadpanned at the man for the crisp, dry delivery, not even changing expression as the man just spoke bullshit.
“Right…..The mail, sure.” He maintained eye contact until the man finally broke it by taking a step back, his hand on the doorknob. “Now, I see that everything is fine, so I’ll get out of your hair.”
His hand latched onto the door, stopping the man from closing the door as he spoke, making his voice echo with barely any effort, courtesy of his Thunderbird heritage, and making his eyes darken due to his Night Lich heritage. “I would appreciate it if you could take me to the meeting. I have been here for over an hour. It would be terrible if something happened, right?” His barely covered threat was accompanied by the door splintering under his grip, making the man stumble back a bit, his hand reaching for his firearm, only to pause as he realised who was in front of him.
Seeing the agent calmly take his hand away from the firearm, he let his eyes return to their normal colour and nodded, “Good choice. Now, tell them I am coming to the UN General Assembly in 30 minutes. Whatever they want to do regarding that, it's their choice.”
The agent nodded and briskly walked away, his comms already scrambling as multiple people began talking to him at the same time.
Meanwhile, he closed the door and walked back in, rescuing his dead on the bed, with a mental countdown to 30 minutes.
30 minutes should be more than enough time for the HYDRA goons to set up shop, right? If not, then he might just have to conduct an interrogation on Live TV and make them ferret out the location of that nullifier kid, if there even was one.
He could have asked Xavier to use the planet wide grid to search for it, but at this point, he just assumed that any evil mad scientist worth their salt would have anti telepath tech built into their evil lair, even before they installed any utilities.
So, no point in alerting them and making finding the kid even harder. He was mostly relying on people’s stupidity to make sure that they brought the kid here, instead of keeping that level of asset locked up.
The only reason he even assumed such absolute stupidity was because, in their eyes, his existence was quite the roadblock to their continued operations. Already, he had made quite the dent in mutant trafficking across Africa, and even Australia, and had destroyed no less than 30 different lairs across the two continents, using the lack of people in most parts of those countries to conduct large scale, hit and run operations to rescue mutants.
Mutants who would be the most grateful to him for rescuing them from such pathetic and horrible conditions. That kind of loyalty could only come after being given freedom after seeing the lowest of what humanity had to offer. That kind of loyalty couldn't be expected from kids whose biggest problem after being outed as a mutant was social discrimination, or maybe even verbal abuse. Sure, even that was devastating to any kid, but those were not existential crises.
If he rescued a mutant from certain death, and one from a bullying situation, the first mutant was going to be far more grateful to him. Plus, no one could object to his actions if he was rescuing people from trafficking and experimentation, without any prior approval, authority, or jurisdiction. Now, if he tried that with a kid who wanted to leave, but was not under any life threat, and did not have the permission of the parents or the local government, then people had some kind of issue to rally behind, against him.
It was just such a simple choice that it only took them weeks to not just devise a way to safely transport large amounts of people without losing the guardians or the reduced mutants, and create appropriate housing and resources for them, but also to fill those houses.
Last he heard, they were in the process of getting the skilled people to teach their skills to the other adult mutants and begin work to get the nice line of housing to be done by the people instead of using the island’s admittedly expensive matter manipulation power.
Alas, that pipeline was quickly drying up, so he was going to have to create a global outreach program anyway. The UN was just kind enough to serve the media attention necessary to accomplish his goals, on a silver platter.
And they thought they could take him out here. He had no idea what would happen to his familiars or even to the island if he died here, and he had no plans to find out. So, that question would remain unanswered.
However, the world was about to find out many things today. Palming the key in his pocket, he grinned as he got ready to shock one particular country far more than the rest.
So far, he had shown the world his stick, a mighty one at that, but no carrot. So, time to dangle one of the juiciest carrots in existence in front of the global superpowers, and let them decide what they thought was an appropriate prize for that. Plus, he was going to offer them a continuous supply instead of a one off thing.

His mental clock ticked down to thirty minutes, and he got up a second later, making sure that his T-shirt was not wrinkled and dusty before walking towards the door, whistling a jaunty tune and using the Beach Key as a fidget toy, rotating it on his finger.
He heard the people outside and their heartbeats as he opened the door, and made a right turn, heading directly to the Assembly. Despite his threat, they had gone ahead and started the Assembly without him, he could hear that much. He had no idea what their plan really was, if they were going to just go ahead without him.
What was the point of the invitation, then? Were they trying to discredit him by showing the world that he was ignoring them? Did they really think of themselves as that important?
“Sir. Sir!” He ignored the agents calling for him, knowing full well that none of them were stupid enough to try and put their hands on him. Still, they had tried their best and put in barricades, crude as they might be, in his path.
Cute.
A less used ability of his, since he could just fly right now, was [Light Step], which allowed him to walk on anything. Air, water, and even nothingness. So, he just kept on walking, seamlessly walking on nothing, and bypassing the barricades.
He heard their furious whispers, as well as the senior agents in their comms, but he just kept on walking. He supposed that [Light Step] was the most useful for aura farming right now. Even though he could just fly and then imitate the Air steps, he had never done that before, so he did not want to lose Aura in front of these people he was trying to intimidate in the first place.
Presentation was quite important, so he was just following in Megamind’s steps.
One of the barricades was placed high up, but he did not stop, stepping up and up and up, right into the ceiling, a sharp current of wind acting as a saw around his head, shredding the ceiling before he came down. After that, they realised that it was futile to try and stop him with barricades, so they sent in someone who could talk to him.
Agent Phil Coulson.
“Mr. Mike.” The agent seamlessly stepped into his path, and right behind the Agent were the doors that led to the lobby that would then lead to the UN.
A mental flick later, he was once again in contact with Xavier, as he had a task for the telepath. It wouldn't do for him to do all this aura farming and for the world not to see it.
“Agent Coulson,” He greeted the agent with a nod but did not stop walking.
“I am going to have to ask you to wait a bit. Just a bit. Until your name is called.”
“Agent Coulson, I think today’s entire assembly is for me, isn’t it? I am the guest of honour, so how could they start without me?”
“We honor our guests by calling upon them at the most opportune time, so their prestige remains untouched,” Coulson replied seamlessly, still in his path.
He snorted internally. Coulson really was a good agent, trying to handle this calmly.
Unfortunately for him, he was not going to be denied today. He was just waiting for a confirmation from Xavier, and upon receiving it, he just used his Wind powers to create a current around Coulson and slowly lift him up.
Coulson just looked down at his slightly ruffled clothes and did not react one bit as he was literally being floated away from the path.
“I would not recommend barging in. That is an international crime, let alone many, many, federal crimes.” Phil still tried one last time, which he ignored and walked through the doors, the wood shearing as the air currents around him acted as super shard saws.
Xavier had made sure that all of this was being broadcast live to all platforms, and the telepath was standing by to make sure that they could not just cut the feed anywhere. Not here, at the source, or at one of the platform servers.
Agents were panicking in front of him, as he saw multiple assistant type people furiously speaking into their comms, in multiple languages, as he just ignored them and continued walking through the lobby.
Time to address the world.
His first global appearance after the whole Ghidorah fiasco.

SHIELD Mobile HQ, NYC
–Nick Fury–
He watched as the motherfucker just barged into the General Assembly, one of the most heavily guarded places in the world, as if he was just taking an evening stroll.
His clothing suggests that as well. A T-shirt and track pants.
“I don’t think he can be stopped, Director. Shall we move in to contain the fallout?” Coulson’s voice crackled over the comms, the Agent having calmly shrugged off the experience of being lifted by air and moved out of the path of perhaps the most dangerous being on the planet.
He was about to agree with Coulson’s suggestion, as it did not look like they could contain Mike anymore. So, the next best thing would be to minimise the fallout. No need to let the world know about the man’s actions and let him get a fan following.
The rabble were moronic enough for that to happen. They would latch onto anything that the social media algorithms pushed.
“Director!” The door to his cabin was pushed open violently as he turned around to shout, only for the Analyst to speak first, “Sir! We have breaches, dozens of them, across the country.”
“What?”
“Sir, we detected a massive spike in psionic energy across the planet, then across the country, and now, we can no longer access the tools we had in place to shut it all down.” The Analyst shoved a tablet towards him as he swiped furiously at the data, and after a minute of going through all the ways their strategies were going to fail, he just sighed and handed the tablet back to the Analyst.
“Director?”
Turning to Coulson, who was still waiting for orders, he replied, “I don’t think containing the fallout is going to be possible, Coulson. The boy has Xavier under his grasp, and somehow, they have hijacked all the global platforms. I don’t think we can outdo a telepath.”
“We could use the nuclear option, Director?”
He quirked an eyebrow at Coulson’s suggestion. “I don't think we need to go that far, Coulson. The property damages alone would be–”
“Astronomical, I am aware. But if they have control over the people, then the only option we have left is to use our backdoors.”
“And what if Mike over there takes offense to that and does something even more over the top? I can’t take that risk, Coulson. Plus, we can safely get away with more funding after this, if we can show that countering Xavier’s suddenly jumped powers is the need of the hour.”
“And I assume that watching a bunch of politicians get humiliated on Live TV wouldn’t be too bad, right, Director?”
“You think too much, Coulson.”
