I liked how it did mirror season 1 episode 1 the way Carl carried the gas can, looking under the car etc was like rick. Also that walker woman was actually the same girl who played the little girl walker rick took down.

Yes, the biblical references throughout the show is done so well... the references are so subtle that those who aren't believers aren't put off by a bunch of 'God' talk... but those who are believers see it very clearly. This show has many layers, that is what makes it so good. One line that gets me is in season 6 episode 9 when the walkers were in Alexandria, Gabriel says "We've been praying, praying together that God will save our town... well our prayers have been answered, God will save Alexandria because God has given us the courage to save it ourselves" He gave ALL the glory to God and it tears me up because in a TV show I was ready to hear him say something like 'well we don't need God to save us' or something like that. So when he said that I was so impressed with the writing on a whole different level.

congrats to making to episode 100!! this episode has a lot of references to the first ep, with the hospital scene, the first scene of the show with rick at the gas station with the little girl. the little girl's actor, all grown up, is the walker that rick was staring at after carl walked away in the beginning. same wound and everything. i love this episode, it's of my favorite twd season premier's bc of the references and finally fighting back!

This is such a good season opening episode, seeing all 3 communities coming together to fight back against Negan…I wish at this point we could see Oceanside helping as well given the fact that because of Negan and the Saviors, I feel like Oceanside has suffered the worst in my opinion because Negans thing is “I kill one person to show you who I am” he did also kill Glenn because Daryl acted out but he was only going to kill Abraham. But that’s been Negans entire thing to only kill one person per community to make them fall in line and serve him. But the way it seems is that Oceanside was the first to be taken over by the saviors and they didn’t just kill one of their people…they killed all their husbands, brothers, and sons. I just feel like Oceanside has the biggest reason to fight and get their lick back. But you know seeing all the other communities coming together whether Negan has more people or not is still heartwarming to see because they’re just tired, done, and sick of being under Negans control. We’ve also seen what our small group of like 12 can do against even bigger groups so while they might not have as much as Negan they definitely have more than they did and the willpower and drive to fight and want a better future for themselves. Also a little side comment, I just love Ezekiel and his speeches. The way he talks is certainly…different but honestly just seeing how optimistic he is and hopeful during the tragic circumstances, I would literally be inspired by him. He has such a positive and welcoming presence about him that I honestly get so happy and emotional every time he’s on screen and gives these hopeful speeches. Like what he says at the beginning of the episode “Together, bound forever. To quote the bard “For he today that sheds his blood with me shall be my brother, for she today my sister.” I just love this show and it’s wild to me how in such a short amount of time of these 3 communities coming together they’re already a big family. Also I think the next two episodes are some of my favorite of this season 😊

I’m an atheist and I love the bible references 😂 they do it in Lost too which is another one of my fave shows. It’s done so well because it can be interpreted in multiple different ways and seen from multiple perspectives and worldviews, not just from a christian perspective. That’s art!
