The point of bringing back Morales was to humanize the enemy for the viewers too. The writers knew that everyone wanted all of the Saviors to be killed off but they wanted to show that eventually, some of them are just ppl with trauma who were forced into that situation.

So with the whole Jesus and Tara conflict they both just have very different ideas on what they should do about “eliminating” these outposts to ultimately lessen the amount of people Negan has to protect him. Tara is following what Rick has said needs to be done, which is to kill everyone at the outposts and I think a part of her is also just worried that they’re going to come after her and everyone else if they don’t. But because Jesus is who he is, he’s always only killed when necessary. He wants to give these people the chance to surrender because he’s also right, not all of them are bad just because they “work for Negan” a lot of the workers that Negan has haven’t killed anyone and their only purpose is to be a body someplace to help run the place. But yeah Maggie and Jesus are really close friends at this point so he feels like he can save these people and Maggie will listen to what she has to say…which is a bit of a stretch considering Maggie’s role and reason in wanting to defeat Negan and the saviors but you know 😂😂 Then there’s Morgan who season 1 was a badass in my eyes from the start but he was a lot more mentally stable back then because he still had his son. Then we see him in season 3 after his son died not in a good place mentally acting then a lot how he’s acting right now because he’s hearing Ricks voice over and over again telling him they need to die and “we need to come for them before they come for us”. Benjamin dying definitely triggered Morgan like he was losing his son all over again. I didn’t necessarily like pacifist Morgan even though mentally he seems to be in a better place when he is…but unhinged crazy Morgan also isn’t any better imo lol. I notice with this show A LOT, they like to have people with VERY different opinions and beliefs and while it might be annoying and stressful at times especially during chaotic episodes like this, to me that’s what makes it feel more realistic in a fake universe because not everyone is going to agree to just killing everyone or saving them.
