Post-viewing comment: so glad you enjoyed it! :D It is SO rare for me to get to enjoy someone watching this for the first time. This is a pretty unique entry in the Disney animated movie repertoire as it's one of Disney's tries at an action-adventure film (and not a musical as you pointed out). Unfortunately, this and Treasure Planet did not do well at the box office, so they haven't gotten much love from the studio bar a merch collection here and there. Those two movies are ones a lot of people wish Disney WOULD do live action remakes for since the longer runtimes and advances in tech for modern movies could make some *pretty sick* films. Or they could absolutely butcher it so maybe we're better off this way XD

I'm SAT!! I love this movie so much, and watching it again with you was so so fun!! Thank you Caitilin!! I think one of my fav. discoveries in watching this as I got older, was always how Sweet was the ONLY one from the crew who totally backed out of the mission the moment someone got hurt. I totally overlooked that part as a child, how he was not planning on leaving with the rest of them (as I see it). But yeah, this movie is both well loved and underrated!! ❤

I believe it's the crystals themselves that slow down their aging to let them live to be thousands of years old, so perhaps the crystal will also extend Milo's life

Your reaction to Helga is so #REAL. That was a queer awakening for me, along with Ms. Honey from Matilda lmao. I'm so happy you did this one. It is SUCH an underrated Disney movie. I hate that people didn't show up for it so they never really continued in this vein of animation. Have you seen The Hunchback of Notre Dame? It's my all time favourite. Very different from the usual animation stories back then.

I absolutely love this movie! Kida was my first experience with a Disney Baddie and I always hated how often she was left out in talks of Disney "Princesses". To second a comment made by another, I do believe the crystals are what extended their lives so much so Kida giving the crew and milo (and the old head who funded the trip) the crystals to me always read like their lives would also be extended like the Atlanteans!

God I love this movie!! Kida and Milo are both Baddies in their own respects and I think they're one of the top tier Disney couples in my opinion, like I wouldn't even say it's like an opposites attract thing because you see them getting excited about similar things and having similar morals and such, it's truly just a difference in culture and that meant nothing to them from the beginning. I love Kida getting in a cheap shot even as she's overpowered and dragged away lmaoo
