Hybrid animal monsters are more art than science.

"Finchmouse." Cute... but mostly not worth a writeup.

"Owlbear. "Weird, but fine. Classic, in any case.

"Hawkwolf." Maybe it has bigger front talons? Better vision in addition to scent? If it flies, awesome, but otherwise it's hard to see how it’s much more dangerous than a wolf.

"Cobratiger." Okay, that gets us someplace. Tigers are dangerous enough without being poisonous. A spitting cobratiger is extra terrible.

"Polar Boar." The size of a polar bear, with the tusks, hide and attitude of a wild boar. Yeah, that's terrifying.

"Sharkorpion." This has gone all the way past cool back to goofy Syfy Movie territory. ... That said, it would terrify adventurers in an aquatic campaign.

"Moosecat." ... That's just silly.

A moose-sized cat with the evil sense of play of a cat and the belligerence of a moose and stupid, effective antlers? Sounds like a nightmare to me.

Man, I remember opening the pawn set for Skulls & Shackles and seeing the Lusca and going "okay, this sharktopus cerberus IS dumb, buuuuuuttttt...."

wasn't there a Cobratiger in one of the Wizards & Warriors & You choose your own adventure books?
