GOD it burns my cud when someone is using open or CC game rules for their project and DON'T FOLLOW THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CONTRACT THAT MAKE THOSE GAME RULES AVAILABLE.

Grrrr.

I couldn't agree more, Owen. I've seen several (semi-)famous creators in the TTRPG space do exactly that, and it never fails to drive me up the wall. Even worse is how there's supposed to be methods of recourse for that, since the entire point of having a contract is that there are measures that can be taken if one party violates the terms. Yet for whatever reason that virtually never seems to happen, and the injustice of it is absolutely maddening.

I also find this annoying. But it has always been standard practice, right from the beginning. People do not read the requirements, do not understand them when they have read them, and if they do understand, try to poison what they produce so that no-one else can reuse it. Nothing will change until someone high-profile gets sued. And I am not holding my breath for that.

Definitely a story here but I doubt Owen wants the smoke of a public call out

Actually, this is so common that there might not really be a story here. I'm sure Owen has just come across yet another example (otherwise why post now?) but there might be no more to it than that.
