So yesterday, my passion project for the last 2 weeks Bad Wrestling Games went up on YouTube and... it fucking bombed! Sure it's only been 24 hours but YouTube only promotes them for 48 hours anyway, with them dying off after the first day regardless. For example: Top 10 Terrible Boss Fights currently sits at 7,000 views having been uploaded on the 1st of August. 4,000 of those were in the first 24 hours, another 2,000 tops in the second 24 hours, with the other 1,000 views dribbling in over the past 2 weeks. So when Bad Wrestling Games struggles to pass 3,000 in 24 hours, it'll be lucky to hit 5,000 within 2 weeks before, as things are with YouTube, it's gone forever never to see much further success.

The Problem) This entire thing is for a number of reasons all relating back to "advertiser friendly" which I'm sure you've all heard about at some point. The problem for this video is that apparently, wrestling promotes VIOLENCE and IS NOT "advertiser friendly"! A lot of wrestling channels have been hit hard by this in 2017, the biggest being WWE themselves, the biggest wrestling company in the fucking world. They don't earn money on their YouTube videos. The thing about this that really irks me is that... I talk about games, not wrestling. AND there exist channels out there on YouTube who review actual wrestling that are allowed to run ads, despite the top dogs being strictly banned from doing it themselves... fucking figure THAT OUT!

I'm Sorry) Now look, I'm really sorry for having a moan about this, I honestly just need a vent because this type of shit makes YouTube as a whole, very un-fun for me as a creator because I don't know if the video I work on for 10 days straight, 9am-10pm is going to do any good. I have to constantly remind myself that the video was really top quality, that the success of a video isn't determined by it's content (as seen by the amount of filth that gets popular and mainstream these days) but... when you do everything right and it still doesn't work, I'm just left standing here not really knowing what to do with myself. Meanwhile in RESTRICTED MODE: my Enter the Dragonfly review is being shown to children with all 70 FUCKS TO GIVE absolutely riddled with monetized views, it's my second most profitable video of all time, behind the Wrath of Cortex Review and not even YouTube's built in features to prevent minors viewing it can hold it back from ongoing success.

Like I just don't understand this site sometimes and how they figure this out. I know it's become a meme to cry over how YouTube is running things but honestly, it makes me fucking sick to my stomach. If you've read the recently updated Patreon description, then you'll know why.

The Point) I know a lot of people, including you guys probably won't put up with sort of shit from me, as you shouldn't and I really do appreciate you guys for not letting me get away with ranting and raving like this, ever! Yeah I know it's just one video and there will always be others but my pain comes from the sheer amount of effort that goes into these weekly and ESPECIALLY, this wrestling video, just not paying off because YouTube's algorithm doesn't like it. I sometimes wonder if I should just cave in and blandly recite lines and recycled jokes in front of my computer screen, losing all of the mystic, anticipation and longevity that the strong foundation we've built with this channel seem to love.

Yeah... I'm being an obnoxious whiner in the heat of the moment and I sincerely apologize for that. It's just that this entire year has been very much make or break for the channel and despite my best efforts to avoid even mentioning it, there is a lot of behind the scenes dramas riding on this so please, excuse me for the rant. I've been having a few rest days after working on this project. I'm looking towards the next set of reviews and a themed special coming up in October, as well as the obligatory Halloween videos. I had plans for September and videos half worked on but I'm seriously considering cancelling them for something fresher with my current state of mind so we'll see what happens.

I seriously can't thank you enough for standing by me and supporting the channel right now, it truly means the world. And I PROMISE that I'll avoid rant posts like this in the future, today is just... summed up with "everyone needs to let it out once in a while" so if you read the whole thing, thanks. Mad love guys and I hope you have a great fucking day. Cheers! :)

This really grinds my gears. I know people make a living off of Youtube, like it's their actual job. It was of those jobs where you were your own boss. You got to decide what goes into the videos you create. You got to show your creativity to the internet world. Nah.... it's not like that anymore. Now they have to go to Patreon to keep on going. Thanks to all this "advertiser friendly" nonsense. In fact I see all this "advertiser friendly" bullshit as some kind of douchebag boss/supervisor. That if they see you do something that you enjoy doing, something you have a passion for something. Then they stop you for doing it cause THEY don't like it. Basically saying "If I don't like it, then no one else is allowed to like it either." I mean I make vectors on Deviant Art, but if they end up doing the same thing. Saying I can't upload the vector cause they don't like it. I'll be pretty pissed.... Just please don't give up on your Youtube channel. Cause that'll be one less channel for me to look forward to for future uploads.

.

This is just fucking stupid. My Crash review also got demonetised for whatever reason! Sure, I'll soon be old enough to actually get a proper job but it'd be nice if youtube actually gave two shits and let up coming channels actually shine. It kinda makes me want to cancel the Crash 2 video I have planned but I guess you just gotta put up with this bullshit until something happens. If not, then youtube shouldn't be scratching their heads on why their audience has moved to VidMe.

There won't be any giving up mate, trust me. Come too far for this dead end to stop operation. I'll just sit on it for a bit, trying to think up a plan... Well it's been a messy year, I think we're up to plan K by now haha ;) I'll sort something, just keen to get through this year at this stage. Head down and focused!

SquareEyedJak

Your Crash video did? Was there any notification about why because that shouldn't be the case mate. But yeah, it's a fucking mess for sure!

.

I'm honestly not sure. I went and checked yesterday and it had the yellow $ sign but I went to go check again and it's green again. I have no idea what happened...

Jek

It's such a fucking shame really, that was one of your best if not the best videos you've ever done! It seems nowadays the only way to get big is to: 1. Suck some big youtubeers cock 2. Ride on a trend 3. Or spew out 10 minute crap daily

SquareEyedJak

Well thanks mate, I'm glad yourself and everyone who actually watched it enjoyed the video and feel that way. The irony is that it was suppose to ride a trend/mainstream event but due to it not be "advertiser friendly" YouTube didn't promote it. That's the way it goes I guess. :P

I don't profess to know loads about Wrestling... but isn't the point of it to look violent without actually being violent? Wrestling is a pretty big things for kids to watch I always thought, mainly because a whole bunch of my friends growing up loved watching it. Seems shitty that there's no ads for something that clearly had a lot of effort and passion put into it :/

SquareEyedJak

You're correct mate, let's help each other act out this scripted fight. Weird thing is that ads are now running on the video... after it's first 48 hours, meaning that it missed the key time that videos succeed.
