Hey guys!

While my dog has been recovering from her surgery I haven't been able to create any full length animal art tutorials. But I have managed to film a couple of shorter 'how to' videos of techniques that I find really helpful! Luckily she's doing a lot better now so I am going to be filming some new animal art tutorials next week for you ❤️

How to blend acrylic paints - in this video I show you my three favourite techniques to blend acrylic paint. This is helpful for all kinds of paintings, and I use these techniques all the time for my backgrounds and for blending paint within the animal too!

You will need:

  • Acrylic paints - I used Liquitex

  • Water

  • Slow dry mediums (optional - I didn't use these for this video)

  • Wide flat paintbrushes

  • Blending brush or large round brush

  • Sponge

  • Canvas

I hope this is helpful! ❤️

Will the fluorescent paint fade over time

Rachel Froud Art

Hi Jen, if you are using fluorescent paint on it's own, then it may fade over time, particularly if it is unvarnished and in direct sunlight. If, like me, you are just adding a tiny bit to make your colours a little brighter, then I have never found this to be a problem! Obviously I can't tell if it would fade a bit over like 100 years, but I have used this technique for a really long time and never noticed any problems. I'd also recommend using a UV varnish when you've finished the painting, and try not to keep it in direct sunlight, as this is better for the whole painting too :) I hope this helps!
