A simple and fun technique in today's tutorial! An easy way to paint snow capped mountains peeking through the clouds at sunrise. I loved the colour palette for this painting 🎨

Supplies used:

  • Liquitex acrylic paints - titanium white, ultramarine blue, prussian blue, medium magenta, brilliant purple, cadmium yellow medium. (Don't worry if you don't have these exact colours, as long as you have something similar)

  • Palette knife - this is for creating the snow effect on the mountains. I'm using quite a small palette knife as my canvas is small, if yours is larger you might want to use a bigger knife!

  • Paintbrushes - large wide flat (background), blending brush (background), small/medium filbert (mountains and clouds)

  • I'm painting in my sketchbook that is 8"x8", however I think this technique would actually work better on canvas, the texture created by the palette knife on canvas will look even more like snowy mountains!
