The "final" version of GGST 1.0 and F-shiki's (not melty) (Patreon)
Content
I'm kind of in limbo right now as I'm waiting for the update and 2X to come out next month.
The tier list video is basically (finally) done, and I'm actually planning on posting it on Thursday probably, so I'm going to post it here first.
I had one of those shower thought moments, so I'm going to make a video about it. I'm going to edit it, so I'll post it here. I've been thinking about f-shiki's and why it feels like so many fighting games I've been playing have been taking it out recently. Is it actually an unintended feature? UNI has removed it long ago, DBFZ removed it, GBVS removed it....
I talked with Hotashi last night on his stream (he might make it a video) about this version of Strive, and I really think there's a glass half full and glass half empty way of looking at it. I probably have a more positive outlook because I had that long bootcamp period between Frosty's and EVO Japan where I basically was off the map competitively (outside of locals).
To be honest, having this many winning characters (I count 11 or 12) out of 31 is pretty good, but it would be hard to deny the character power is high at the moment. Rather than the system mechanics, I guess you can say they rerouted the power level into what characters can actually do. The current version of the game is a little too much, but I think they almost got it.
I feel like a good way to look at everything once we get the patch notes next week would be to do a retrospective on the game since Season 1. Essentially, in my opinion:
-Season 1 is two fighting games, one with strong characters and one with weak characters.
-Season 2 greatly strengthens characters and encourages people to use mechanics they weren't using very much (fast RC and Positive Bonus)
-Season 3 adds new moves and mechanics to open up options or fix character flaws
-Season 4 attempts to make characters have no overlap (as in no why play Testament when you can play Ram)
Let me know how y'all feel. Patch notes soon ;;
