On this movie catch-up, Ryan and I chat about the two biggest films of the summer, Barbie and Oppenheimer! We also talk about seeing Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein during Blobfest and Ryan's recent anime viewings... because that's where we're at now I guess. Enjoy!

Ryan I'm glad we both hate Millennials who can't grow up, you guys think the Boomers are bad, oh boy we're in for some shit with Millennials

Luke Gordnier

This movie is marketed towards people who are nostalgic to Barbie and to people who love Greta Gerwig

Luke Gordnier

I agree with joe, if anything the marketing helped Oppenheimer more then it did Barbie

Luke Gordnier

Ryan I have the perfect movie for to you watch that I bet will cheer you up after watching Barbie: Silent Movie. I think you’ll have a real Mel Funn time with it.

JokersJuicyAss

Welp Ryan your hatred of car ads tells me we agree on Robocop

Luke Gordnier

Also joe thanks for getting these episodes out so fast!

Nope there a better color: chocolate brown like the Willy wonka river

Not only will Barbie be forgotten once it's out of theaters there will be articles with titles like "Now that it's made it's money can we now admit that Barbie wasn't good?" and "Our REAL thoughts on Barbie". The Ken memes will be the only thing remembered from this movie and in a few months they will be seen as cringe.

Brett Lawrence

“Fudge.” I’m glad someone else remembers that show.

When husband and I went to Barbie the lady next to me pulled out a bag with a full Culver’s meal, took off her shoes and whipped out an absolutely rank sweater to wear as a blanket. There was a lot of Barbie fanservice that absolutely was attempting to pander to me but was mostly surface level and was a little disappointing as a Barbie Girl. (I liked the Stephen Malkmus joke a lot.)

I also got up to pee during what I later learned was the emotional crux of the film so when everyone asked me if I cried I was like ‘well…’

I always wanted Shaving Ken, he was so cool! (My only Ken wore black and holographic swim trunks - he dated my Equestrian Barbie in the full riding get-up)
