Ryan I'm glad we agree on watching Bad Movies, every hack I see always say, "Watching Bad Movies Teaches you what not to do." and aside for a handful of films, all they teach you is to have a bigger budget, and hope to god the producers don't fuck it up in editing

Speaking of vhs Blu-ray cases, the Blu-ray I have for fletch is in a case that’s the same size as one of those clamshells cases.

One character actor you forgot was Burton Gilliam as one of the mechanics.

JokersJuicyAss

Well Ryan speaking of Commercial TV movies, in a couple of years a movie that just came out called Strays is going to be on this show

If you do the Marlowe episode for Patreon episode, you should watch the terrible Marlowe movie that came out last year.

Welp time for another me being at least Decade younger than you, I had to watch Finding Nemo a lot because for someone who was 5 to 8 from 2004-2009 that was when Pixar was hit after hit, and I had to watch it a lot, and I hated it

JokersJuicyAss

Never mind Joe you are a man who was frozen in the 1940s

JokersJuicyAss

Welp I got a suggestion for this show, Semi-Tough 1977

I wonder if you guys have seen the movie Cutter's Way with Jeff Bridges and John Heard. It really stands out when you think of movies based on those kind of neo-noir, pulp detective stories as they shambled into the 70s and 80s. The book was written by Newton Thornburg, and I really recommend Dreamland and To Die in California by the same author, especially for Joe.

Sidetracks

Joe speaking here. I have seen that movie and really enjoyed it! John Heard was such an underrated actor and he’s so good in it. I have a feeling Ryan would really enjoy it as well

Yo boys The Outlaw Johnny Black comes out on Sep 15th, I remember Ryan saying he was interested in that not sure if you guys had heard

Steven Trotter

If the anime series Ryan talked about loving so much is Cowboy Bebop Im going to blow my brains out

Steven Trotter

It is great, Im just hoping thats not what you were referencing, everybody knows Bebop

I love what an asshole Friedkin was personally. The Brink's Job is funny but you don't see much if any film making style of Friedkin in it really. The terrible trend of not putting any real style in most comedies was around even back then unfortunately.

May 2003 was a big month for Albert Brooks

I only really check out Osamu Tezuka’s anime and manga - he did some cool and groundbreaking stuff in manga for the time. He was really influenced by film - down to panel framing and composition and treating his characters as actors in the studio. Some are even recognizable as Old Hollywood-inspired.

As a fan of video games since the Atari 2600, please for God's sake do not start talking about video games. I simply cannot bear it.

I love your show. I don't know how many film podcasts I stopped listening tp because they would apologize for un PC films and media. Or make cringy political comments
