Greetings, kind folks!

It is hardly a secret that most of my work has centered around building an overarching character-focused narrative in the vast and perilous world of "The Ancient Desires"... but what is said narrative even about? What have I been working on all this time? What changes, what familiarities lay within?

To answer these or, really, any questions you might have, I figured it'd be rather fun to hold a themed Q&A session! I'm certain you have your curiosities about given characters, their surroundings and many other aspects I've, admittedly, kept rather vague in the public light. Relationships with the cast canon or not, where they live or what's their place even like, favourite foods or what have you!

So... do ask away to your heart's content! I'd be more than happy to satisfy any curious inquiries you might hold and lift the veil on some of my writing thus far. I think this could be quite entertaining, so here we go!

To stacy and her mom, what's the worse position yall gotten yourselves tied in? (Gags too lmao)

Loaka Mossi

Meruette, do you prefer kidnapping your subs or letting them come to you willingly? Felicity, who is the most ticklish person you have tickled? Also, what is your favorite tickling tool? Raywell, which of your "conquests" have put up the biggest fight?

Mura

How do the desire gems react/co-exist with the Chaos emeralds.

SamDoodle

You've mentioned GUN here and there in bios and whatnot, and they got me thinking: are there any humans in the world (or worlds) of TAD? Is GUN run by a bunch of furry guys 'n gals? Silly question for the heck of it: Felicity and Meruette swap gems/powers for a day; what shenanigans ensue?

DMZ

Not sure the rather prideful bunch would be open to talk about it, but I'll happily answer for them! Despite being quite the prized catch for any aspiring ne’er-do-wel, neither Stella nor Stacy have had it too bad, all things considered! Naturally, their bloated sense of entitlement earns the wealthy a couple (or more than a couple) extra wraps of tape over a thoroughly packed mouth, but the kidnappers are usually considerate enough not to "harm" the precious merchendize! Things take a turn, however, as the titular Ancient Desires roll into town. With Stacy's father, Ed Preston, being a rather influential man, his spoiled daughter catches the attention of the one and only crimson-eyed Raywell. Held hostage until daddy does as he's told, Stacy finds these visitors from beyond their reality have far shorter patience as she's harshly balltied in some dump of a hideout! All that not to mention the oppressive aura emanating from her captor. Sheesh! This one will surely stand out in our brash party-girl's mind! - DMZ

Aw man, I so many things. I guess big one for me on the narrative and world building side of things is what seems to be the looming conflict between the Ancient Desires and The Righteous Hand Order. I’m curious what their beef is and how that impacts others around them (I recall an old piece of a certain wayward spirit getting wrapped up with the Order). Especially since it seems the Order don’t seem above using the Desires own methods. But on a more character specific one, Pharax intrigues me. Especially given highlights of his need for test subjects. So what is he up too, why does he need them, and what type of experiments is he running with them?

DMZ

A wonderful question! To tell the truth — the gems are entirely at odds with one another! The Chaos Emeralds can't be used to empower any of the desire gems, in fact, quite to the contrary, they can be used to counteract their influence. Shockingly, however, the powers both sets of gems draw from can be quite comparable! A wielder of a fully restored Desire Gem may stand in opposition even to the likes of Super Sonic himself! And while the power of the Desire Gems is finite, demanding time to recharge after heavy usage, their power spans the entire Multiverse, whereas the Chaos Emeralds can only draw their infinite power strictly from the reality they belong to, greying out if used too much far beyond their home realm. - DMZ

DMZ

For Meruette, it depends! She finds great joy in breaking down defiant spirits, but she's just as entertained by having someone kneel before her willingly. I suppose it moreso depends on the subject. The more defiant you are, the more eager she is to stomp that defiance out. Felicity's powers turn any person far more ticklish than they initially appear, so it's tough! However, something tells me Mistress Meruette might be a worthy contender for the top role after the panther snuck into her bedroom with Claire for some much-needed comuppance! The favourite tickling tool remains a feather :> As for Raywell — it's simple, really! He has never faced anyone nearly as stubborn as Sonic The Hedgehog and his merry band of friends in the here and now. Unstoppable force meets an immovable object... except that object moves quite a lot, dancing directly on your nerves! This is a battle he won't soon forget! - DMZ

DMZ

Oh, this is a very interesting topic to dive into! Both The Ancient Desires and The Righteous Hand Order hail from the same long-standing conflict. On one hand you have a group of misfits, those gifted with extraordinary power, banding together as they're ostracised from the society at large. On the other hand you have the fearful masses personified, the very "humanity" which shuns everything that appears even remotely out of line, out of the ordinary. In this ancient war, both sides have drifted to quite the extremes, not just fighting for survival, but seeking to prove that they are the ones who deserve to be in charge of unfolding history. The Righteous Hand Order aligns itself with heroes. Even if Sonic and co wouldn't really like these cultist whack-jobs, the Order sees itself as fighting for what is ultimately right. However, in their ignorant and fearful ways, they percieve anything "supernatural" as being the enemy. Thus, the likes of Tikal and Chaos are not someone the Order views lightly. Two Years before the story takes place, the long-standing leader of the Order has been slain in a fight with an unknowable entity. The grief brought on only bolsters the organization's limited worldview, reinforcing their drive to eradicate all which they deem "unholy". Under the new leadership, however, the Order grows to recognize there may be some benefit in not merely banishing their enemies... but taking their unnatural powers for themselves, using these "gifts" as brand new weapons in their righteous war. ... Pharax remains a being most elusive, with keen preference for working from within the shadows, leaving the world at large none the wiser. However, if there's something the Gizoid cannot hide — it's his disdain for humanity, the world of flesh and bone. Far too long have humans viewed machines such as himself as disposable... and he seeks to turn the tide! His highly unethical experiments put the utmost emphasis on studying humanity's inner workings. What makes them tick, what are their minds, weaknesses, limits and just how much of this could they take, for once acting as lab rats in someone else's games. - DMZ

Careful8

To all: Which one of you has had the most bound up predicament? (Like EXTREMELY tightly secured) Also to Stacy: How often do you get bound up? XP

DMZ

TAD takes place on Sonic's version of Earth, so rest assured — the humans are all here and accounted for, paired with the grumpy Abraham Tower at the helm of the aforementioned organization. There's a healthy balance of furries and folks, which I imagine makes designing furniture around local offices very much frustrating. As for Meruette and Felicity, if the two felines swap their respective desire gems, I imagine it leads to quite the mess. Meruette, for one, would find herself rather humbled, getting into all kinds of snags with powers she both isn't unused to and looks down upon. Felicity, on the other hand, would lose herself in the newfound strength, the Submission Desire powers playing to her darker traits as she sees firsthand just how fragile the world around is. Ultimately, both would come out of it with some begrudging respect for one another, even if they'd never admit it. The power swap giving both characters perspective, teaching not to take what you have for granted and, for Felicity, perhaps easing some of her anxieties... while bolstering others! - DMZ

GoldenGunman

Your universe seems to have an interesting mix of Archie and IDW continuity characters, is there any other Sonic spin-off media you’re pulling from? Mainly thinking of Fleetway lol

DMZ

Excluding Darefell catching the worst cold and wrapping everything around in tight ropes per sneezes, I think Meruette in Zarah's grabby leopard hands takes the cake here. Stripped, strapped into mittens and binders, thoroughly mummified with tape, mouth packed with a good chunk of the laundry basket, herself awkwardly hopping around on a short leash as her date prepares them a table... eyup! As for Stacy, she gets into some sort of a predicament at least once every other week. Sometimes more, but it averages out in the long run! - DMZ

DMZ

Interestingly enough, I am actually not pulling from either Archie or IDW much! The closest I have to Archie representation are the Zone Cop Corps. Both Honey and Breezie are also in this, but I'm mostly utilizing them as legacy Sonic characters from way back when. Zone Cops in T.A.D. are definitely the biggest inspiration draw from the Sonic Archie comics, but even then you'll find their depiction here to be quite different, bar from the basic "dimension police" veneer . That being said, I'm more than fine with giving a wink and a nudge towards certain characters here and there given the whole "multiverse" aspect of the story. Feels only right to pay tribute to the long-lasting and everchanging franchise that brought us all here :) - DMZ

GoldenGunman

Ah, interesting! I’m a huge fan of the Zone Cops myself, so I’m excited to see how you use them! Though I assume their universe being tilted on it’s axis probably isn’t true in your continuity, seeing as how Zarah isn’t permanently standing on walls in all your drawings XD it’s still crazy to me that Dan Slot wrote Zonic and the Zone Cops and the whole multiversal Sonic storyline stuff and a few years later did it again with Spiderverse at Marvel. Feels like the Zone Cops were a precursor blueprint for the Spider Society. Excited to see how you use them!

DMZ

Interestingly, I think the likes of Spider Society would be a lot closer to what I'm thinking overall. Not precisely, but definitely a closer match than the whole "perpendicular dimension" shtick. Zone Cops in T.A.D. exist in the void between known universes. Think of it as of deep space — the endless vast void of nothingness. It is a dangerous realm, as all kinds of anomalies, beings and dimension remnants exist in this plane. Thus, they make use of the limited sectors of safe space they have, their facilities built with utmost precision to remain as compact as possible. Thus, mirroring the initial imagery, they use gravity altering technology to use floors, walls and ceilings in the same manner, all to squeeze every last drop of usefulness of the space alloted. Existing in the void between existing universes allows them to closely monitor cross-dimension anomalies. Situated here, they have a solid view of the surrounding multiverse, keeping tabs at any deviatiosn from the norm. The void around them persists as a reminder of what happens to a dimension that grows unstable with interferance, of what, perhaps, happened to some of their homeworlds long ago. - DMZ

GoldenGunman

This is so cool, I love it a lot! Reminds me of the TVA & the Void from the Loki show, which I’m a huge fan of :)

DMZ

TVA and their relation to the time stream would be a very good analogy, yes! Can't believe I haven't thought of that sooner. Hilariously, when Loki was streaming, I was somewhat hissy over the fact they introduced tech-savvy anomaly hunters with square portals, because I was fleshing out The Righteous Hand Order around then and that was basically their thing. It's funny how that works! - DMZ

GoldenGunman

That is a really funny coincidence XD Funny enough, the TVA inspired my own story idea I’ve been doing in the background involving a bunch of Tails variants policing the multiverse. I don’t talk much about it on GG stuff cuz it has no kink elements (well, none I’m internationally putting in lmao) but maybe I’ll share it with you on discord later lol

For more modern characters like Sage, Trip, and the conductor's wife and others that are less physically there like Nicole how will they be implemented if at all?

DMZ

As enticing as it may sound to use characters like Sage and Trip, exploring the themes and stories that they bring with them, I can't honestly see myself retroactively reworking existing writing to feature the more modern characters that came into being long after I've began work. I could see Conductor and his wife making a small cameo somewhere down the line, though. As for legacy characters akin to Nicole and the broader Freedom Fighter cast of characters, I think it's safe to say they'll mostly remain as small references along the way. I'm not against bumping some folks from my cast into them, but I doubt it'd be a proper part of the overarching narrative. - DMZ

Alex

Meruette: How are the kind of waifus do you like to kidnap and tie up? and how do you like being tied up?

Alex/Abyssio

Meruette, do you like to be tied up and possibly more, especially if your subs become strong enough to make you submissive?

crz

- Will you continue the "Poll Tied with Audrey" storyline? I'd like to see how it ends xd - Are there any variations of Audrey in the multiverse? - Does Audrey know Rouge? And will we ever see them together in a drawing? - Does Audrey know or will she ever meet the Ancient Desires? Or do they know her? 👀 - What would Audrey dress up as for Halloween? - Does Audrey play video games? If so, what would her top 3 favorites be? - And Audrey? - I'm starting to suspect I might like your character Audrey a little bit. I wonder why 🤔. - Will any Sonic villains appear in your future drawings? Perhaps as the villain of the moment, like Mimic the Octopus, Deadly Six, Chaos, Dr. Eggman! etc. (That's what I've come up with for now. I think I'll read more about the other characters 😅, but anyway, long live Audrey!✨)

crz

- Is Audrey the ultimate life form? XDDD

DMZ

Meruette isn't one with an affinity for those kinds of pitiful interests. Or so she claims, at the very least. The gracious mistress much prefers being at the helm, guiding one's arms behind back and pulling the ropes taut. Preference wise, she most likes two types of captives. It's either someone bratty and resillient, someone who needs to be taught their rightful place... or someone shy and timid, someone merely curious about all things bondage, domination and submission. Perhaps deep within Meruette hopes to find kinship, someone she could allow herself to be vulnerable with.... but whenever that day comes, it certainly doesn't seem to be in the cards for now. - DMZ

DMZ

The cruel mistress most certainly does not enjoy being on the recieving end of the ropes herself. She's quite the vindictive gal, our Meru. If someone were to get the upper hand, she would most certainly pay back in full and then some. Her subs best stay in line if they know what's good for them! - DMZ

Alex/Abyssio

Ah well. ;( I thought that Meru would like to give someone control over her to get a thrill of being someone's toy and let everything go as she seems dominant and confident all the time.

DMZ

Wow! That's quite the list! Let's go through with it one by one :> - I REALLY want to revisit Poll Tied someday, perhaps on here. Circumstances at the time lead me to shelve it, but I'd really love to give it another shot, I think it could be very fun! - There certainly are alternative Audreys all across the vast multiverse. However, at the time I can only say that our regular ol Audrey is most notable; - Audrey doesn't directly know Rouge, but I think she doesn't think highly of the thieving bat. Likely through Amy's influence in part. We'll definitely see them together someday, though! - The otter WILL most certainly meet the Ancient Desires. They don't know of one another at the start of the overarching narrative, but they'll grow familiar soon! Some friendships will be made, some enmities will arise! Felicity, for one, will find herself almost at home with the likes of Audrey and Amy... even if circumstances beyond their control will come to challenge that! - For Halloween, Audrey would probably dress up as some rather obscure horror or a niche book character that nobody will get and she'll have to explain the costume to folks over and over (before getting tied up and gagged, naturally). Think something along the lines of, perhaps, some little known side character in your favourite book; - Audrey isn't one for playing games, I feel. She has nothing against them, but just isn't terribly interested all around. Most games she's played are courtesy of Damien and even then she doesn't really get it; - There will be a rather expansive list of baddies that drop by! Think Imperator Ix if you want someone obscure, think Doctor Eggman and Neo Metal if you want faces more familiar. Either way, our heroes will have quite the mighty opposition! I think that about covers it. Happy for this much Audrey love! Thank you :) - DMZ

DMZ

As for the ultimate life form... I can only say with utmost certainty that Audrey is the ultimate fluff form 😎 - DMZ

DMZ

Thing is — I do think deep inside Meru seeks the feeling of giving up control. Of being in the presence of someone who she could allow herself to be vulnerable around. Someone special for whom it'd be worth to lower those barb-wire walls she's built over the ages. However, she's grown considerably cold and bitter over the course of her more than two centuries of life thus far. Perhaps she'll find a special someone someday, but as it stands it doesn't seem to be in the cards. She's here for herself, here to take control of her destiny despite all odds. That being said, the blue blur does seem to spark quite the keen interest for our Mistress! - DMZ

crz

I completely agree with that! XD

crz

- Awesome, I'm glad there's still interest in continuing Poll Tied. I'd love to see how it ends, here or anywhere else. xd - Okay, good to know we have the best one. xdd - Well, it would be interesting to see them interact, even if it's with ropes, right? 👀 - Awesome! Lore! - Will there be a mini-comic about it sometime in the future for Halloween? Sounds funny. xd - Okay, video games aren't for everyone. - Excellent, let's see what the doctor's master plan is (and everyone else's). xD Thanks for the replies, and well, how could I not love her? For me, she's the cutest, I love her, haha. Thanks to you for creating Audrey. :]

cartoonbondage101

Meruette, what made you into a cruel mistress to your subs, what’s the backstory?

DMZ

While Meruette herself, in all likelihood, would be the last person to share her background, instead opting to punish an insolent sub for even entertaining such inquiries, I'll lightly lift the veil on the Mistress' past while she's not looking >.> Meruette's current ways, as much as she'd deny it herself, track all the way back to her cruel mother and the finishing school the strict woman ran, aiming to teach young ladies proper manners. Young Mer, being one of the subjects at said boarding school, could never quite live up to her mother's harsh standards, being labeled a disgrace to the long-standing and respectable family. Having had enough, shunned and ostersized, the Meruette of then took her destiny into her own hands, breaking away from the overbearingly oppressive family and carving out her own path in defiance. Since then, the feline seeks to be the one in charge, in control of her life at any cost. Her late mother's harsh lessons still lingering somewhere in the back of her mind... - DMZ

GamerMaster28

Regarding the Desire Gems, it sounds like they're broken up into pieces for others to find. If that's the case, does that mean that other characters could gather them up? Also, for Meruette, how'd you lose your tail?

DMZ

Desire Gems existed from ages untold, each of them possessing a consciousness of their own. The stones required a guardian, someone to wield their power and enact their will. A worthy Desire Keeper. In order to find those worthy, as well as means of keeping their unified power from falling into the wrong hands, the Desire Gems shattered themselves across all of Multiverse. Once a given shard manages to find a keeper the gem deems worthy, they become this very gem's Desire Keeper. Empowered with the fraction of the power they've found, they now find themselves tasked with reforging the Desire Gem back into its complete and most powerful state. Anyone aside from the Keeper may find the shards, but they would not be able to utilize any of the power attached... not without outside means, anyway! As for Meruette... it's a touchy subject for the feline. Still, I'm sure you've taken note of the fact the Keepers we see all seem "unusual" to a certain extent. Prolonged influence of their gems (along with a touch of power misuse) have altered, corrupted some aspects of their appearance. Meruette's once-tail is one such corruption. - DMZ

Gabriel Chanllio Fitzmaurice

I hope I’m not too late! Since we’re on the topic of the recent drawing, I have a few questions regarding that scenario (which I’m hoping to recreate in real life with my girlfriend). 1. How does Meruette choose her targets, and how does she manage to capture them? 2. How did she set her sights on Damien, and how did she manage to subdue him? What does he think about that—and about the fact that she’s wearing his favorite shirt? 3. What is the power hierarchy/progression of the "Gems of Desire"? 4. Are there any other "ships" (pairings) besides Charles and Mary, Stacy’s parents, or Felicity and Spio? 5. How often do Audrey or her mother get into trouble, and how do they manage to get out of it? 6. Is anything else known about the past of Darefell or Cascell? 7. How does the "Foot Fetish" Gem of Desire work? 8. (Optional) Is there any obscure, random fact about any of your characters? Sorry if that was too many questions, but I wanted to take the opportunity. Thanks for your time.

DMZ

Not too late at all! ^^ 1. It's mostly happenstance. Either someone reaches out for her services or, perhaps, she merely bumps into some brat in need of taming on her casual strolls across dimensions. Whatever which way – once you've caught her attention, she'll stop at nothing before she gets what she wants... and she's a very powerful lady! 2. Damien is a bit of a shy shut-in, and I feel the Mistress founds the prospect of messing with such boys all the more alluring. Bonus points on the fact he also lacks a tail, much like herself. She considers herself blessing his evening with such an intervention, he should really feel lucky to be in her presence~ 3. The power hierarchy goes as follows: Raywell – Meruette – Charles – Cascell – Darefell – Claire – Felicity. Their strict leader is the most powerful of the bunch and the novice Felicity is the weakest... at least presently! 4. There are! There's one particular ship I can't wait to share in regards to Olivia Sunflower and a certain neighbour she has at the Floral Forest Village. A certain starfish-headed mechanical menace is also worth noting as he has his sights set on one Breezie the Hedgehog :> 5. Mom doesn't get into trouble nearly as often as she used to, now that she's living her quiet life away from action. Still, it is safe to say that both of them get into trouble entirely too often. Weekly basis if not more often for Audrey. Such frequent captures, however, bring experience! Audrey knows most of the basic knots you're probably thinking of tying her up with. Quite slippery, that fluffy snoop of ours! 6. There isn't much for Darefell. He's a man who seized the opportunity to embrace his passion and be more than the cards life has dealt to him prior. Forminb bonds of friendship with Charles, he joins the group. Cascell, however, has been wandering the Multiverse a bit prior to being discovered by the Ancient Desires. Raywell finds him shackled up at a derelict dungeon. Since the fox strives for punishment, he is more than content to stay trapped. The wolf, however, offers him new purpose, slashing the chains and taking him in to the group. Cascell still wears the shackles to this day! 7. Claire legitimately controls your feet. Hope you didn't like being in control of your walking. There is evidence to show her power may also influence minds to share her fascination, but the data is inconclusive. 8. Maddie, the singer, really likes buffalo chicken wings, sneaking a couple behind her manager's back when she needs some comfort food to unwind after a long day. Regina, her manager, is very much against these havits. Hope that satisfies your curiosities, was most happy to write these out! ^^ - DMZ

Gabriel Chanllio Fitzmaurice

Wow, that was truly incredible—thanks for answering my questions! I noticed someone else asked a few things about Audrey, which got me thinking: 9. What kind of books does Audrey like the most? Any examples? 10. In "Kinktober Day 28: Stuck/Mistake," Damien went to her place; even though she couldn't open the door for him, there was a spare key. How did they both react? Did she tell him the truth about her particular interest, or did she manage to keep it hidden? If she did tell him, would Damien be understanding? That’s all for now! Thank you so much for everything—and that bit of info about Maddie was great! Details like these show just how much careful planning goes into the story and lore, as well as the characters themselves—it’s truly inspiring. And, to wrap things up, as you said: "Audrey is the ultimate fluff form." She’s my favorite character of yours; she’s so sweet that she even rivals Amy! ^^

DMZ

9. Book wise, I'd say Audrey is into fiction that leans closer to classic novels. Somewhat older books, the really "timeless" classics. On the academic side of things I imagine her interests mostly align with books about plants, cooking and some sociology. Won't give concrete examples off the top of my head, but you get the general direction :D 10. I think Audrey manages to slip out of this one, even if extremely flustered. Probably feigns being ill and has him come by some other time. Doubt he'd have a key to her place, considering she's renting and all. Regardless, I don't think she'd want to tell him about her most forbidden fantasies. He'd probably understand, but it's a bridge they'll have to cross sometime in the future. Thank you for the questions! This has been real fun. Extremely pleased to hear kind words for Audrey. Excited to share more works of her in the future! - DMZ

Gabriel Chanllio Fitzmaurice

Sorry, I got confused about the key because you confirmed it in a reply to a comment on the drawing on DeviantArt—but I get it now, haha! It was just a fun joke. Thanks again for clearing things up for me! ^^✌️✨

DMZ

I mean, it's a fun hypothetical. Even if he has the key, I imagine just tihs once it works out for Audrey regardless. But she comes close! Hehe - DMZ
