NOT SO OPEN- AI

The Details:

Security Breach Incident: A hacker accessed OpenAI’s internal forums where employees discussed technologies, leading to concerns over the exposure of sensitive information.

Internal Response and Criticism: Following the breach, OpenAI chose not to disclose the incident publicly initially, citing no theft of customer data. This decision faced criticism internally, notably from dismissed employee Leopold Aschenbrenner.

Enhanced Security Measures: In response to the breach, OpenAI and other companies have bolstered their security frameworks, including establishing committees and adding AI application guardrails.

Why It Matters:

Impact on National Security: The breach raised fears about the potential exploitation of leaked information by foreign powers, particularly concerning the advancement of AI technologies.

Corporate Security Practices: The incident underscores the need for robust security measures in handling sensitive AI technologies and the implications of internal transparency.

Regulatory Environment: The breach has influenced ongoing discussions about federal and state regulations to control AI technology dissemination and address potential security risks.

Security/safety is always the last consideration and "how much money" is the first when new tech is made and perhaps we're in the situation we are in because those aren't reversed.

The battle over who should be in charge at OpenAI just a few months back was no doubt motivated by this insider knowledge. They fired and rehired Sam Altman within two weeks. It suggests nobody is really in charge, and perhaps that no single body should be. There is an element of fear and awe in their confusion, and opacity. We'll likely never know what they know, until knowing it won't alter whatever decisions they made from that knowledge. It is, as predictably as always, an Orwellian lie. If an institution were actually Open, it would never have the need to call itself such. It would simply be.

Eloquently put, nothing to add! Cannot agree more!

It is almost as though the elites in Berlin spoke to the elites in NYC and they decided to sell some BTC and buy some BTC…
