Mixed reports

re inflation data at the consumer level came hotter than expected. Here are the details:

Headline CPI (Consumer Price Index) came at 0.2% vs. 0.2% consensus.

Core CPI came at 0.3% vs. 0.2% consensus.

Market selling off and there is a big Jensen Huang preso later today.

I took this oppty to deploy as the market normally digests the data and rebounds 24 hrs later

Most imp tho the 50 bps cut seems to be off the table for now - big swing from 34% yesterday

Mr. Mushrooms

I see inflation going down but prices going up...

Markets are always worried about something. Either an impending recession or too much inflation. They react the same way to both which leads me to believe it’s just traders manipulating the market.

They Call Me Woah Woah

This is a common misunderstanding, inflation is not going down, it is still rising but at a slower pace than previous year. For inflation to go down we would need it to be negative

They Call Me Woah Woah

I think its a mix of the inflation with high core also signaling we get .25bps and not .50 so market has to unprice that but also the debate. Thanks for up to date info mr james!

We're in a lot of trouble if the market was pricing in .50 and these levels are as far as we got

The lack of competition, price gouging and big (unopposed) mergers are a big reason folks can't put food in the table.

Snagged a $190 TSLA call expiring dec 18, 26. 🤞

But 25 base points still seems inevitable right? Still hopeful for Septembull!

James thank you for your comments on Cardano on X.

I only wish that consumer prices had increased 0.2%. Food in our supermarkets has risen at unprecedented levels from core food groups to the essentials. This isn’t discussed anywhere. And we are talking 30-50% increases for key essentials.. Utilities have skyrocketed too. Here in Australia the Govt has no intention to reduce interest rates, citing 2025 if they do..

I know this is not going to be popular but Trump’s administration borrowed $8.4 trillion during the former president’s time in office, while Biden has borrowed $4.3 trillion, according to an analysis by the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget (CRFB), a Washington think tank. Ignoring the pandemic relief measures enacted by both presidents, the proportion of debt addition still holds around 2-to-1, with former President Trump adding $4.8 trillion in non-pandemic-aid fiscal debt and Biden adding $2.2 trillion. Those additions were mostly due to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), changes to the Affordable Care Act, and different budgetary acts in 2018 and 2019. I can say i have always been and voted republican except during the time when Bush got us into a war i could not support. As a father of a beautiful strong women and son and grandson of proud veterans i can not support Trump.

But remember, during Trumps presidency he was playing within the corrupt western central bank system with everyone going after him 24/7. And he still managed to pull off many feats. The system is Corrupt. Trump is just bringing it all to light. In the spotlight now. We are all being educated.

It’s 0.2% over the time period they’re measuring, not ever, obviously. Yes, some things have jumped 30-50% over the last 5 years. I’m not sure where you get your news, but literally EVERYONE is talking about it CONSTANTLY.

I would argue that 25 points is way better then 50 points since 50 points would indicate that the situation is so catastrophic and FED are in essence confessing to being utterly late and totally unable to do anything positive at this point. It is another question if they were ever!

I second this, MGM. Jawbone in the upward direction. But the jawbone shall be displayed 🙃 At this point it looks like they have a triple mandate; add lieing in our faces non-stop, if you will.
