Dean Skurka, CEO of Canadian cryptocurrency firm WonderFi, was kidnapped in Toronto on Wednesday and released after paying a $1 million ransom. This incident marks the 171st case of physical violence used to steal cryptocurrency, according to a security expert. The kidnapping occurred just a day after WonderFi reported strong third-quarter earnings, with $41 million CAD in revenue over the past nine months. Notably, the incident coincided with Bitcoin reaching a new all-time high of over $77,000.

WonderFi, backed by Kevin O'Leary, is a prominent publicly-listed crypto firm in Canada
