This small Chinese company, DeepSeek, just made a super smart AI that's as good as the ones big American companies make. And they did it with way less money and computers. That's kinda scary for the U.S., and here's why:

First off, it shows you don't need to be rich to make awesome AI anymore. That means more people around the world can do it now.

DeepSeek also did something clever - they let the AI learn on its own without humans helping. That's pretty cool and might make American companies have to step up their game.

Here's the kicker - they shared all the details about how they made it. So now, anyone can copy or improve on it. That's great for moving AI forward, but it means the U.S. might lose its lead. Hence u see the sense of urgency out of US govt right now. Things are happening fast.

Now, the U.S. has been trying to slow down China's AI progress by not selling them fancy computer chips. But DeepSeek's boss was smart and bought a bunch before that happened. So that plan didn't really work. Yes they have I think 50,000 H100s from NVDA and they milk them better than anyone.

In China, people are super proud of DeepSeek. It's like they're showing they can keep up with or even beat the U.S. in tech stuff.

There's also worry about what people might do with this AI if it gets into the wrong hands. And American companies might lose business if everyone starts using this free Chinese AI instead.

Basically, this whole thing is shaking up who's the boss in AI world. The U.S. needs to figure out how to stay on top, but it's not just about spending more money or making stricter rules. They gotta get creative and maybe rethink how they do things with AI. They need Elon to do that. He is prob the most imp ally on the planet right now.

Fun AI Meme for the day - and trust me this is a serious issue

I have been testing deepseek out today, It does not allow many email domains and is heavily censored when discussing any controversial chinese topics such as social control. I think this is evidence that we need to be careful on how we use these AI tools

google is blocking the email from deepseek registration if you have gmail. They dont like competition just like with tik tok lol. I wanted to try deepseek
