This map shows you how incumbents are about to get destroyed unless they adapt to keep up. The pace of change is astounding. Many of these are Fortune 500 - I look fwd to seeing the disruption of names like Adobe, Quickbooks, Peleton that all charge far too much for their monopoly services.

In addition - AIGentrification is coming in 3 waves:

  • Wave 1: Text-Based AI Agents – Initial adoption in roles dominated by text interactions (e.g., marketing, paralegal support, customer service) where tasks are primarily language-based and single-modal, allowing for efficient handling.

  • Wave 2: Multi-Modal AI Agents – Broader integration into areas that involve multiple sensory inputs and complex tasks (e.g., architecture, gaming, education), necessitating AI with a range of skills to process and interact with various forms of data.

  • Wave 3: Regulated Industry AI Agents – Gradual adoption in sectors with stringent regulations (e.g., healthcare, finance), where privacy and security are paramount. Success in these areas depends significantly on establishing trust via advisory boards and demonstrating compliance with regulatory standards. Larry Ellison is positioning himself big in this area and I expect Bezos to follow ... around meds and cures.
