Things I’ve realised you need after a day without power:

  • - cash

  • - spare/full petrol in the car

  • - gas powered stove/bbq

  • - Starlink

  • - portable power banks

  • - solar-panel generator

  • - canned food & drink

  • - probably a weapon (after 48hrs)

Every year my town here in Australia has at least one week without power as storms blow down power lines. A couple of years ago it went for 2 weeks. All you need is a camping gas cooker and candles. We don’t have town water supply, only tank water. Therefore our water pumps don’t work and we have no running water. You need to fetch water from the rain water tank. Flush toilets with a bucket. Warm water on the camp cooker for your shower and take a shower with bucket and sponge. The thought of needing weapons is insane. So glad I’m not an American.
