China Stops Sharing Key Economic Numbers to Hide Just How Bad Things Are

China’s economy is in big trouble. The government has stopped releasing hundreds of statistics, likely because they don’t want people to see how bad the situation really is. The country doesn’t have enough workers, young people are struggling to find jobs, and things are only getting worse.

A couple of weeks ago, we reported that Chinese factories were closing down and laying off employees, largely because of the ongoing trade tensions with the U.S. We pointed out then that this kind of economic pain would be used in propaganda—and that China would likely try to cover up the damage. I pointed out yesterday banks are folding at a GFC rate.

By hiding important data, the Chinese government is trying to make the crisis look smaller than it actually is.

It may not be a popular opinion, but based on the numbers, the U.S. is in a much stronger position right now. I expect china to fold in the coming months.

There is a full load of propaganda on here. Many expert opinions based on something they heard from a rally or online. How many of you have been to China, walked the factory floor, have dinner with the business owners? I have, and I gained insight from it. Let me share a few points; Someone claimed Chinese market is 30% smaller than US. This is true measured in USD but prices in China are so much less than here. 5 to 10X smaller. So if you measured in units produced it’s not even close. Their domestic market is 3X larger than US. This also means that you can charge 300% tariff and they can still sell cheaper than US made

Agreed. I have lived and worked in Asia for decades. Plus, their top-down structure makes implementations of decisions easier, though not for the right reasons.
