Rule Du Jour: Rule #64 Don’t Chase, Replace (Patreon)
Content
Don’t Chase, Replace... been saying this all my life!
In investing, there will always be a chart that goes vertical, a stock that triples in days, or a coin that moons overnight. And just as reliably, there will be that sinking feeling—"Why didn’t I buy it?" Don’t let missed opportunities turn into emotional distress. I see it everywhere in the community right now. Even on X.
If you let regret dominate your psychology, the market will eat you alive.
Every blow-off top you chase out of FOMO dramatically increases your odds of buying someone else's exit. Dont be the exit liquidity. Instead, celebrate the wins of others, study the catalysts, and refine your system so you do not miss the next one.
There’s Always Another Alpha Train
Markets don’t stop moving. Alpha rotates. Some trains leave without you—but new ones arrive at the station every week. That’s why discipline, patience, and capital preservation matter. If you missed Metaplanet, DefiDev, CEP, MSTR, SOL at $8, $ASST etc or Nvidia in 2022… that’s okay. At least now you know what to look for.
Stay ready. Stay sharp. And remember:
"You don’t need every move. You just need your move. All it takes is one big one!"
Also REM You Can Jump Off and Jump Back On
Smart investing means you can exit a play, take profits, and wait for another entry—even in the same asset. That’s the beauty of liquidity and volatility. I did this w CEP, I rode it up, rotated it at $33 into the next CEP called $ASSET but kept my eye on CEP. Today I saw the oppty to strike and I did when market makers flubbed the option pricing and I took advantage like a bandito. Got in at $36 and then reduced my cost basis further in hours by another $4.10 down to $31.90.... this is the game we play. But you have to remain patient and wait for the setup.
Takeaway
Missed a moonshot? Study it. Why did it run? What was the setup? Was it repeatable? Know what to look for next time.
Feeling FOMO? Write down the pain, and let it pass. Don’t act on it.
Jealous of others’ success? Flip that emotion into Celebration of others! There’s no scarcity of gains—just a scarcity of patience.
Final Thought
"The best investors don’t catch every train. They just don’t get run over by the ones they miss."
Focus forward. There’s always another opportunity, and the market always rewards those who are ready—not reactive.
