Why the Rich Keep Getting Richer - Play Their Game!

Money Makes More Money

  • Rich people often earn more on their investments

  • Rich people often invest well

  • Rich people get richer due to hard assets and compound interest—when your money earns money, and then that money earns more.

  • Rich people do not spend their wealth, they borrow against it!

Learn from the Rich

Instead of giving up, copy their habits - note NOT ALL RICH ARE ALIKE. Some spend money like water and it tends to not last... others create generational wealth and pass it on by lving a simple life

Their Habits

  • Save a lot early in life.

  • Start investing as soon as possible.

  • Generate income from hard assets so you dont have to spend your assets! Eg Covered Calls, Real Estate Rental Income etc

Smart Money Habits

Rich people often understand how money works:

  • They “pay themselves first” by saving before spending.

  • They know how to reduce taxes legally.

These are skills anyone can learn and use to grow their own wealth.

What Does It Take to Be in the Top 1%?

The graphic above is alarming, the top 1% now have more wealth than the entire middle class! What does it take to be in the top 1%? We can all do it, I had a bike and a suitcase 30 years ago...

  • You need to earn at least $500,000 to $1 million per year, depending on where you live.

  • To be in the top 1% for net worth (all your assets minus debts), you’d need about $11.1 million, based on 2024 data.

  • The top 1% in the U.S. own a quarter of all US wealth.

And then, we you reach the 1%, you realize that you don't need all that money and you start giving it to those in need :)

"Rich people do not spend their wealth, they borrow against it!" This is one of those things that I think is a bit out of touch; if you're at a level where you can do it, great, but telling someone with say 1 bitcoin that this is the way, is not good advice. The whole borrow, spend, die process is incredibly risky for people whose assets do not dramatically exceed their needs. Someone with 100 million in hard assets can barrow 2-3% of their net worth effectively risk free, and roll the debt year on year, assuming modest appreciation, and have an unbelievably lavish lifestyle. Trying to do the same thing as someone with, say, 2 million in assets, is a much more precarious thing to do, if you're doing it to fund your living expenses. You're at much more risk due to volatility, and rolling your loans is not going to be as easy as it would be for the UHNW individual.
