When industries undergo rapid disruption—often driven by technological shifts and disruptive players like Tesla — incumbent companies (eg LUCID and UBER) frequently respond by forming "strategic partnerships" cough cough.

This tactic pools resources, technologies, expertise, or market access in a last ditch attempt to regain competitiveness and stave off decline. However, these alliances are often reactive rather than proactive, occurring when the companies involved are already weakened, cash-strapped, or losing market share.

IMHO they represent a "last gasp" effort to survive, and history shows they rarely succeed in reversing fortunes.

Saw it happen so many times eg to name but a few

  • NOKIA and MSFT to fight iPhone and Android

  • YAHOO and MSFT BING - to fight Google Search Dominance

  • AOL and Time Warner on dying media - complete joke

UBER and LUCID will die a slow death. Not sure how long it will take... but it is going to happen.

Cmon Luke man. Noone hates uber cause we all use it. Is it innovating as much as others like tesla. Drivers for uber has no idea what's coming and I find that sad. All love in here.

One thing that might be being overlooked here is the Uber has a very well in trenched digital marketing system. Let’s not think about Uber in the sense of the traditional human driver model, however in the network, the reach, the brand, the multi country penetration. Then add a layer of automation on top of that, whether it be with lucid, waymo , or Tesla, they are a facilitator. Just a thought.

Very well said 👏

This is potentially the only competitor that is real so far in my opinion. I've had deep seated marketing and distribution that's taken decades. The bit that makes me curious is the Eats division. That's a massive piece of delivery and currently needs human in the loop. We can say Optimus, but not for a while. Two competitors in market ok with me.

Hopefully we will be able to bypass them. They seem way to expensive! Not a great deal for restaurants either, as they take a huge cut.

Nik

If Robotaxi ends up being 1/2 to 1/3 the ride price of the competitors, Robotaxi will take all the market share. Simple. Two or three things do almost the same thing, one is less than half the price. No brainer.
