Thank you Jacob, Today we cover the Top 5 Technical Analysis Lessons from the Weekly Edge - #TAlpha (July 13–18, 2025) session:
1. Mean Reversion as a Tool for Spotting Local Tops and Bottoms
The session repeatedly emphasized mean reversion as a vital tool to:
Identify potential local tops (e.g., high reversion spikes aligning with Bitcoin’s local price highs).
Signal divergences where price makes a higher high but the mean reversion level is lower — a key sign of weakening momentum and possible reversal.
Support profit-taking decisions by helping traders anticipate likely exhaustion points before retracements.
Example: Bitcoin's higher high came with a lower mean reversion value — signaling a local top and the need for caution.
2. Optimized Trend Indicator as a Trade Trigger
The Optimized Trend was highlighted as a reliable signal for entry and exit, particularly in the Tesla–MicroStrategy pair chart scenario:
When the optimized trend flips color (e.g., from red to blue), it marks a new potential trend direction.
You don’t always need a formal "sell" signal — trend reversal alone can justify exiting a position.
This helps avoid over-reliance on delayed confirmation indicators.
Lesson: “The trend is your friend — trust it over waiting for a separate sell signal.”
3. Band Squeeze Signals Impending Volatility
A recurring theme was watching for confluence model bands tightening, which indicates:
Low volatility and price compression, often preceding major breakouts (either up or down).
Historical examples from Tesla and Solana showed how tight bands preceded explosive moves. Watch the Clouds!
Key insight: “Tight bands = calm before the storm. Be ready.”
4. Layered Support and Resistance with the LILO Model
The LILO model’s layered levels (like Layer 4, 5, 6) were used to:
Spot potential support zones during corrections.
Anticipate where the next move might target on the upside (e.g., Layer 6 at $117k for Bitcoin).
Offer guidance on laddering buy entries and managing downside risk in volatile assets.
Use case: MicroStrategy showing potential to drop to Layer 2 ($410) before recovering.
5. High Time Frame Trend Confirmation through Structure
Using higher time frame levels to confirm trend reversals was key, especially in the analysis of Solana:
A break above resistance (e.g., $185) and subsequent retest would solidify a larger bullish trend change.
Structural analysis (higher highs, higher lows) is crucial to differentiate between short-term noise and trend transitions.
Takeaway: Daily chart structure matters — use it to validate or reject breakout signals.
