The U.S. national debt increased by half a trillion dollars in just three weeks. There are really only about 50 million taxpayers in the country, and with the debt now nearing 37 trillion dollars, that equates to roughly $750,000 in debt per taxpayer (rem only 50M people pay any measurable tax). This will never be paid back. Fiat currency is heading to zero.

They have got to bring interest rates down or we are so screwed. Payment on the debt will be more than even the United States can handle.

Grok says roughly 114 million tax units (out of an estimated 190 million) paying some federal income tax, far exceeding the 50 million figure https://x.com/i/grok/share/Tywg8T58JULWdgSQNy9zqFN3J Not that it's still not a hugely ridiculous amount of debt for country.

What's the definition of 'measurable tax'. 50 million for a country the size and population of the US, it's such a small number

Wrong - If you meant taxpayers contributing specifically to federal income tax (excluding those who only pay payroll taxes or receive net refunds), the 100 million figure is more accurate. If you include payroll taxes (Social Security and Medicare), the number of taxpayers could be higher, closer to 170 million, as many workers contribute through payroll taxes even if they owe no income tax. This would lower the debt per taxpayer to approximately $217,647 ($37 trillion ÷ 170 million).
