2 SIDES OF THIS COIN

SIDE 1

One perspective highlights CEOs boasting about reducing their workforce sizes, often attributing the cuts to a cooling job market as a pretext, while their primary emphasis is on deploying AI aggressively to minimize headcount at any cost. This viewpoint comes directly from various CEO statements. Also people i talk to, entry level jobs have been destroyed by AI.

SIDE 2

In contrast, David Sacks, the AI and Crypto Czar, has recently asserted that concerns are unfounded, claiming AI has no significant negative impact on employment.

MY VIEW

The key question is: where does the truth lie? In my view, it's aligned with the top image rather than the bottom one. I think David is becoming a politician and learning to lie.

Sacks is full of shit. Anyone who doesn't assume that if they are not the ones leveraging AI in their work they will be gone in the near future is setting themselves up for unemployment. The rate of progress is already way beyond what most people get and will accelerate even faster. Even the blue collar jobs are on borrowed time with robots. To think it will all be ok for the working class is no different than thinking the big corporations will take care of everyone.

At first AI is coming for your job if you sit behind a computer to do it. Later robotics will disrupt other more labour intensive jobs etc. Remember this is the worst the technology will ever be.

Where is the data to support either view?

Healthcare expenditure per employee mandates replacement wherever possible. This is where socialized medicine would be an incredible boon to US businesses, which are hamstrung by this cost. Private insurance can cover higher-level care, for those who can afford it, but basic healthcare needs to be cost controlled for businesses in the US to compete. Mulit-tiered system, where the best-of-the-best is available, but only if you pay for it. Canada is ramping up domestic manufacturing. Every Canadian employee costs the company zero in health care cost. Zero. Tough to compete with that.

Not sure about the real impact on jobs. But, if LLM AI is any indication- it’s overhyped. Speaking strictly from my own experience. Not scientific by any means.

Ah good to see some awakening, trust the actions and what they really say. Everyone lies especially people in power, be realistic folks they aren’t there because they have the good of humanity at heart

He sure is learning to be a politician. You can tell just from his rhetoric on the All-In Pod. It is going to have a massive impact on jobs. My mind can't come up with a scenario in which it does not.

No he is not lying his intelligence is over exaggerated

I am a technical support engineer for industrial meat processing equipment for a large global company and I think in the next couple of years my position will be eliminated and taken over by AI. They are already using it for some tasks on the sales side.

AI will take lots of entry level jobs. Other jobs will be taken not by AI, but by humans that know how to leverage and use AI.
