It's an interesting statistic. But really only an illustration of consumer trends. If you look at just "cars sold" rather than just EVs, the Korean manufacturers sold 10x more

All FSD will be Tesla and all other car companies will pay for this data

Kia and Hyundai actually have bad reputation in their home territory.

Fantastic. Stack stack stack Tesla time is running short!

Where did these figures come from? Grok says otherwise - Based on available data for South Korea’s electric vehicle (EV) market in August 2025, the top four manufacturers by units sold are: 1. Kia - ~6,800 units 2. Hyundai - ~5,200 units 3. Tesla - ~3,100 units 4. Genesis (Hyundai luxury) - ~900 units

Ask gRock some questions you know the answers to. It’s often inaccurate.

Won’t see an article on this by “the street”. Hate only there

Tesla getting closer and closer to its iPhone moment...

BYD just entered the EV market this year in S. Korea. Give it a few years and we'll see. I'm traveling throughout S.E. Asia and I see waaaaay more BYD EV's than Tesla's. Especially the Dolphin model. I only have seen maybe 1-2 Tesla's and I was in the "rich" area and the people who were driving it were foreigners. I've been in only BYD vehicles when choosing EV option using the Rideshare apps called Bolt or Grab and the interior is MUCH NICER and when I asked the drivers about their feedback they all love the vehicle!! BYD also has a factory here in Thailand. I now understand why the U.S. Govt doesn't want BYD to compete in America. It has NOTHING to do with "Homeland Security" or "Cybersecurity Risks" from China. That's pure B.S. and nothing but political theater as Tesla is allowed to sell in China. I'm actually going to plan to rent one to drive around for a week. BYD is a serious threat to Tesla in regards to EV's

You can't compare BYD to Tesla in Thailand. Tesla has a 300% tax on it and is actually a Grey market vehicle compared to BYD. So the numbers you see are because of that not because they readily available, to say nothing of the actual retail price difference. The part you didn't mention was the absolute revolt among Thais with money against BYD for cutting the price and putting them underwater on their loans. That was in the news of and on all last year as early buyers were screwed massively. As just a car they have a nice finish when they are new and feel like a luxury vehicle inside. Though the ride share drivers don't like to use the AC because they need to recharge more often, which is annoying. I'm curious to see how they hold over 3-5 years. A Vietnamese company recently launched a series of impressive EVs here in Thailand and they are on par with BYD interiors. Don't know about maintenance or reliability though.
