Critical video here on trading the trends.... a must watch if you trade.

Jacob shows us the importance of buying in an uptrend using IADSS.

1. Only Trade With the Main Trend

Stick with the flow of the market.

  • Buy when prices are trending up, and avoid buying when prices are trending down. This is esp imp when Perping

  • An uptrend means prices keep making higher highs and higher lows.

  • A downtrend means prices keep making lower highs and lower lows.
Many traders lose money buying dips in a downtrend — those “dips” often turn into deeper drops. Wait until the chart clearly turns upward before buying.

2. Check the Bigger Picture Before Entering Trades

Always zoom out first.

  • Look at the daily or 12-hour chart to see the overall direction.

  • Then zoom in to the 4-hour chart to find the best entry spots.

3. Use the Optimized Trend Indicator to see how market is moving - rem this is the TREND per ASSET

The Optimized Trend indicator makes it easier to see which way the market is moving:

  • Blue = uptrend, Orange = downtrend.
Look for long stretches of blue with short orange pullbacks — that’s a healthy uptrend.

4. Add to Your Position on Pullbacks in an Uptrend

Once you know the trend is up, the goal is to add to your position on dips, not chase big green candles. Eg me and Tesla the last 2 years. 106, 140, 160, 200, 220, 260, 300, 330.
Buy during small pullbacks that still keep the trend intact — that’s where the risk is lower and the reward is higher.
The deeper the dip (as long as it doesn’t break the trend), the better your entry point.

5. Filter Out Weak Signals With Mean Reversion

Not every buy signal is worth taking.
Markets can get noisy, and small pullbacks can give false signals.
Use mean reversion filters (for example, only trade when price moves at least two standard deviations away from the average) to find stronger setups.
This way, you only trade when the market has cooled off properly but still remains in an uptrend — increasing your odds of success.
