New Affordable Tesla - the fallout and surprises (Patreon)
Content
Interesting development as I said before - if the new Model Y comes out at $40K stock will tank. Here we are again, another sell the news event.
Well it did just that from $450 to $432.
But there is some good news
1) They created a cheaper model 3 also.
Model 3 Standard: ~$36,990
Model Y Standard: ~$39,990
2) no news on LEASE deals - I think they have an ace up their sleeve to get us to $300 a month
3) These trims expand Tesla’s lineup downward in price by about $5K–$7K while preserving margins.
4) They are now squarely competing with these cars:
- Honda Accord (EX trim) $36,500
- Toyota Camry (LE Hybrid) $37,200
- Mazda CX-5 (Select trim) $36,800
- Honda CR-V (EX-L) $37,000
- Ford Maverick (XLT Hybrid AWD) $36,900
- Ford Mustang (EcoBoost) $37,500
- Hyundai Ioniq 6 base $42,009
5) Elon Musk’s earlier hints of a sub-$30K car “with credits” were consistent with this pricing structure. Example State credits: $29,490 - California $32,990 - New Jersey $32,990- Illinois $33,490 - Massachusetts $34,990 - New York State
6) FSD v14 launched the same day, with strong early feedback — Tesla is converging hardware, software, and affordability.
7) Competition face tariffs, Tesla does not.
