New Affordable Tesla Models

Fallout, Surprises, and Why This Could Be a Game-Changer

Tesla should have included auto steer with the standard models also.

Thanks James. My only frustration is I have been hearing about a Model 2 for a very long time and it never seems to materialize. I like the cheaper trim versions but also think bringing variety through a new model with a new look has value. Would also like to see the roadster finally emerge as a halo car.

Glorious Times

I can’t afford one. Not sure many others can either. But I’m hopeful that I’ll learn enough from James to someday afford one, and more. I appreciate all you do James and team! You all are great.

Yeah. Even with Elon's strategy thinking on a whole other level - its still puzzling why Tesla doesn't have a smaller form factor vehicle in a genuinely lower price category. Seems like a no brainer given the potential market and Tesla's ability to scale.

Wonder how he came up with the family income needed to afford a 40K car? I’m above both & would never do that! I finally bought a used 2018 with paid up FSD & will prob keep it 15 years lol

Anybody what is TAM?

As James is mostly in the know about TSLA and he and MartyParty always post told you so "in case they are correct(not so much when not correct), maybe it is a good idea to keep an eye on his prediction for quarterly earnings(oct 22). You can make a bet on Polymarket whether they will beat the numbers Now 77 % say yes vs 23 % no

In the Netherlands only the wealthy can afford a Tesla. Even with the new more affordable models.

This looks like another Tesla event with lots of hype beforehand and another "Sell the news" - this strategy has been quite reliable this year for short-term gains. I admire James and the IA group has massively improved my investment gains over the last 2 years, but when it comes to Tesla he does tend to be over-optimistic and review the data with rose-tinted glasses. As far as car sales go, the CyberTruck seems to be a disaster, no sign of the new Roadster after 5 years, and they are rapidly losing ground to the Chinese manufacturers in UK and EU. e.g. - EV sales in EU increase by over +20% YoY, while Tesla EV sales drop -28% YoY - in UK BYD grown their sales +880% and from literally nowhere! And has outsold Tesla in Q3’25 16k cars vs 12k sold by Tesla. - none of the Tesla models qualify for the EV subsidy in the UK – too expensive! Elon might have a bit more protection against the Chinese with US Tariffs, but I think that while he was playing Dark MAGA and DOGE politics the last year, he’s left the door wide open for the BYD and other Chinese manufacturers to steal the lead in Europe and Australasia. These cars may be cheaper, but they are poorly equipped compared to the Chinese competitor models for the same, or even lower, price. The Chinese are also upgrading their models at a faster pace; Tesla looked very sharp when released 10 years ago, but now they are starting to now look very generic here. TSLA needs to do something that would grow the EV sales at least at the same rate as all EV sales. We need some real progress on Optimus and RoboTaxi sales an income as otherwise the PE of >240 is hard to justify.

Then get out and find your fave EV company. But we all know...it's not just EV.

Sorry, but I'm glad they didn't gut their margin to fight for the lowest priced market. This still provides options for the mid-level purchasing group. More importantly, I'm not in TSLA as a "car company". Don't want them to drag their margin down on any of their businesses.

Vlad

I appreciate TSLA not just a car company, but currently EVs provide 75-80% of the Revenue share and 85-90% of profits. If this drops, or even stays flat, then less cash to develop until the other revenue streams from kick in - from RoboTaxi, Optimus, AI. Energy (Storage & Solar) doing well, but still less than 10% of profits. The total sales and profit HAVE TO grow to justify the PE > 240! - otherwise share price likely to pullback down. And the EV competition is of a much higher standard then it was over the last 2-10 years when Tesla was easily top of the pile.

Mike

Tesla is my only equity position. I started accumulating 3 to 4 years ago. In that span of time I have sold my PLTR, NVD, AMD, SOFI and some others along the way.... Looking back on it ... I wish I didn't ... but hey ... I'm a big boy and will live with that decision.... hopefully it still pans out ... Go Robo Taxi ! Go Optimus and Go Elon!

Vlad

Ouch! That must hurt a bit! I kind if know how you must feel. Back in early Jan 2023 I was looking for a buy and forget position with £10k in my SIPP, looking to chose between 3 shares for a buy & forget position - PLTR at $6.50, MSTR at $15.00 and TSLA at $120. Guess which one I chose? - Yup TSLA!! I fully believed the hype of $2000 - $4000 potential target. I got out of my TSLA position at a 3.5X gain in Feb this year. Not bad for just over 2 years, but meanwhile MSTR and PLTR have gone up 20X and 28X respectively. Having tracked TSLA for 3 years, you learn to take Elon's announcements and projections with a pinch of salt. Maybe it's time has finally come, but over the last 3 years TSLA was definitely not "the faster horse"! I'm still thankful to James though for the SOL and MSTR call-outs, which have served my much better than TSLA these last 3 years.
