For anyone interested, there are plenty of youtube videos and blog posts out there comparing GoT history to actual historical events that took place in Britain and other parts of Europe. George RR Martin based many events and parts of the story on actual events in history such as the War of the Roses. The red wedding also had a historical parallel it was based on.
