Omg I didn’t know her favorite show was Fringe, it is actually my favorite show too.I freaking love that show. Plus very happy to see your reaction for The Expanse, it is absolutely one of the best written scifi shows.

I personally would love to see you react to this show as soon as possible. It really is the perfect type of show to react to for you I feel.

My favorite show right now. Some things about the physics that I always find interesting: Since there is no or very little gravity between the planets the only way to walk is a) with magnetic boots or b) by creating artificial gravity through acceleration/deceleration. Space ships in this show accelerate the first half way to their destination, then turn around and decelerate the rest of the way. That way there is gravity while traveling. When you walk your feet point towards the engines. So the ships are internally built more like skyscrapers than like ships in Star Wars. Ceres has "negative" gravity through its rotation. So the bottom points toward space, your head points towards Ceres. The "lower" decks are on the outside, the "upper" decks on the inside. They only have about a third of earths gravity, that's why people who live there most or all of their life are physically weaker than "Earthers" and can barely stand Earths gravity. I love stuff like this. :)

Glad you enjoyed it :) Hope you decide to pick it up and watch more of it. To answer your question on # of seasons/episodes, there are 3 seasons. The 3rd season just finished airing 2 months ago and will be on streaming this fall. It is also 13 episodes. It takes 3 episodes to really introduce the story and characters, most people get hooked on episode 4, and then it really takes off. Rotten Tomatoes has the following critic scores: Season 1: 76% Season 2: 95% Season 3: 100% SyFy channel actually cancelled it after 3 seasons because it was too expensive to make and they don't make money from streamers/binge watchers vs live viewership with ads... but the fans made such a fuss and flew airplanes with banners over Amazon's headquarters that Amazon has bought the rights and is now making Season 4 and beyond. It is extremely rare for fans to win on bringing back a cancelled show. Also, back to GoT references. Just like Game of Thrones, The Expanse is based on a series of novels. The novels list a single author, but its actually a pen name for two authors working together. These two authors are both friends with GoT's George RR Martin, and have both worked with him on projects, and you can really see the influence on the complex storyline, he also endorses the series as "Sci Fi done right" in their trailer. And just like GoT, every character has their own motivations and self interests in mind, which adds layers and layers to the story.

The realism of it really makes it unique. As much as I like other scifi, fixing things by talking made up technobabble or eliminating physics with mythical inventions like hisenberg compensators or inertial dampeners really gets annoying and lazy.... in the Expanse, the vastness of space and the laws of motion are their own characters... it takes time to get from place to place, ships don't magically stop when their engines turn off, they just coast, and not only do they not cheat on physics to make the show cheaper, but the physics are used to both solve problems but are also a danger that can injure or kill. And they pay amazing attention to that detail

Oh so funny that you are reacting to this show because I just got the pilot and I wanted to test it. But see your reaction after will be even better

I totally hadn't heard that about Amazon picking it up! That's awesome. I, personally, have only watched S1 and need to catch up, but I'd agree that it takes a bit to grasp the characters and conflicts, like GoT, but since Juli is so good with that on GoT, I think this will be good for her. I think that both series are compared because they are both based on book series, so they have a rich world.
