So something that’s always bothered me is their use of “Original” for their mom. Even though Rebekah explained it as just because she’s the witch of the Original vampire family, constant use of it as “the Original Witch” kept giving it a false connotation for viewers like Don that she was the first witch like her kids are the first vampires or like some special line of witches descended from her when that’s actually the Bennett line. Her line ended with her (notwithstanding *that* storyline from TO but that wasn’t going anywhere generationally either) and she still needed help and/or power boosts from the Bennett line every time she did something big. Idk but that was an annoyance of mine

The show mainly presents compulsion in the context of feeding or vampire drama, so it’s easy to focus on the blood aspect and not fully register the deeper consent issues. It doesn’t always highlight how serious it actually is, especially early on + the fact that don isn't the sharpest tool in the shed too especially after I watched him react to dragonaball recently and he shows his genius by saying 2x10 is 100, and 1x1 is 2 this can be expected lol
