Something to remember about hybrids is that all of them are still young compared to most vampires, meaning not a lot of time learning how to kill. Especially the ones that hide out in the woods and try to avoid people.

Tell me about it. I'm not saying Stefan is perfect because he's far from it, but Damon is literally way worse than him, especially towards Elena's friends and brother. Not to mention how he is with Elena, he's crossed her boundaries so many times. All the creepy things that Stefan did was always mild. I personally think people only think Damon is the better brother either in general or for Elena just because they find him attractive and funny. @don watch first thnx for compliment. My only argument against the “elena go with him” argument is that she is the source of danger. She sadly needs him to be far away from HER. At that moment, Klaus still very much wants elena for more hybrids and therefore the looming danger of Jer being in harms way or someone whose life Klaus could use as a bargaining chip is still ever present. I’m not saying im a fan of compulsion or taking someone’s choice but am saying in context where its someone under my care and im the source or at the very least a huge part of the danger and I know for sure talking or convincing the party is useless (as Elena came to the conclusion with Jer) im doing the compulsion thing every-time. Difficult decision? Sure, but always worth it to preserve their life in my book. I’ll just have to agree to disagree with opponents of that view

I semi see what you are saying, but Stefan brought this on himself. Plus I mean Stefan came into her life when he knew she was drowning in grief and emotionally manipulated her to rely only on Stefan and think she is in love with him to keep her head above water. From my observation, over the year (1st 2 seasons) as she was finally starting to heal, she started to genuinely bond with Damon and really feel things that were not tied to needing a safety raft or by being manipulated and groomed.
