Hello all,

I just replied to a YouTube comment asking about mid side processing and I thought it might of use to share my reply copied here for everyone to see. The question about mid side came from my recent Lion demo for Instruo. Where I use the pin matrix to both encode and decode stereo to and from mid side signals. So I hope this of of some use to you all. That's all below in the raw quote of the comment form but I'll be making a PDF document for those at the $5+ tier on mid side very soon.

To update on the building and construction progress on the house (and my new studio) ... We have insulation going into floors and ceiling, acoustic rock wool with the insulation, talking double floors for the studio, air con marked out for first fit etc. For those wondering what I'm on about I'm having an extension on the house and new studio build and I've been talking about it here. It's the current MASSIVE DISTRACTION that's really slowing things down as I try to working a building site. To be honest I think I'm slowing loosing my marbles with the sheer mass of distraction, questions and having to manage so many things with the house while trying to work. It's certainly extremely tiring. But it's amazing to see it coming together. I have been taking pictures and grabbing bits of audio (industrial drills, noises and bang sample pack anyone?) to document the new studio build from the ground up when I'm finally moved in.

I also wanted to just touch on linking Patreon and Discord accounts and I know a lot of recent supporters are joining to support me here now there's a great exclusive Discord community to tap into. This link from Patreon talks about how to set it up. Following this link will mean anyone you support through Patreon that has Discord access perks set up will automatically put you into the Discord servers. https://support.patreon.com/hc/en-us/articles/212052266-Get-my-Discord-role. Anyone having issues getting into Discord let me know.

MID SIDE PROCESSING

Here is my reply to the YouTube comment, what I'm going to do is make a new PDF to go with the "Patch Cookbooks" that will serve as a better document on mid side processing. But for now I hope this is useful for those curious about mid side audio.

Maybe just for your Patreon crew, you could document the build of your studio. I love that you talked about using the acoustic rock wool. What else is happening during construction that is audio specific? Are you floating the room? Are you doing anything special with your electrical build, like putting the studio on a dedicated 20A circuit? Anything you are doing for noise shielding or power conditioning?

Thanks for talking more about MS. It's something I want to explore more. I'm on break currently in the rural White Mountains of Arizona, and I've been making field recordings with the Shure MV88 MS mic attachment for my phone, capturing in mid-side "raw" format.

Looking forward to this one, as well. Especially interested to learn how I can dig into this with existing modules vs. dedicated ones.
