2:11 Orb lmao

Halo S

it looks like in Japan semester 1 is spring and semester 2 is fall, opposite of here, but the student council changes in semesters 2, 4, etc (source, reddit)

Roosp

School year starts in April. Term 1 is April to around mid July then summer break (about six weeks) Term 2 is September to mid December then winter break (about two weeks) Term 3 is January to mid March then spring break (about two weeks)

Markyotamos

Just to clarify. The girl that's always behind people and the girl in the opening credits are different people.

Japanese school year runs from april to march, separated into three terms. 1st term is April to late July, then summer break till end of August. 2nd term from September to December, short winter break, then 3rd term is January to late March. The student council in Kaguya seems to run from September/October to September/October of next year. I'm assuming it's to give freshman students a couple of months to acclimate to High school before joining the student council, and for 3rd/final year students to finish early so they can focus on their finals and post graduation planning. So in 3 years, you can only run for president twice. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

it wont be important for the story in any way, but remembering how the story of Princess Kaguya goes might help you get a reference in a later season ;)

So it seems like pretty soon after summer break is over, the term for that year's Student Council ends, and then they have votes for the next President. That President then hand-picks whoever they want on the council with them and they keep going until after the next summer break. In terms of months we're probably still in August/September. With this introduction of a voting system the timeline in the show starts to become a bit more linear and actually follow something than just showing us random days and that's something I really like about Season 2 and beyond, things connect more often and actually mean something.

Also, the girl you see in the opening credits is the girl at the end of this episode btw. The one you're talking about that's always behind people and watching is just a little cameo right now.

peeps

They still have summer vacation, winter vacation, and spring break but it's spring break that seperates the school years in Japan rather then summer break like it does for us since the Japanese school year runs from April to March. I'm not familiar with how student councils actually work in Japan but most anime I've seen that feature some sort of student council election usually have it take place in the fall during the second semester.

Avalon

Their new school year starts after spring break, not summer, and they elect their student council in the fall

So the secret room they found in the Student Council room is a relic of the student movements of the 1960s which I'm pretty sure was a real widespread protest movement across Japanese universities and some high schools against corruption in University executives, rising tuition costs, and unrest over American military bases on Japanese soil among other things. It ended with a lot of violence and over a hundred campuses being occupied by student protestors who were ultimately unsuccessful. Their reaction to the secret room being "there it is!" makes me think they knew there would be a secret base for student protestors somewhere they just didn't know where.

Incase no one's told you yet, PLEASE avoid the OVA that I think comes right after this season. It's just a super unnecessary episode that exists just for fanservice, nothing else.

peeps

Nah that OVA is funny af. Also this tier was originally intended for that sort of thing hence why Highschool of the Dead was the first show on here.

Bautista

Preference I guess, I just found it weird and completely unlike anything else the show has. I was just giving him a heads up as 1 grown ass dude to another, that OVA was just a bit of a weird watch for me.

peeps

I can't really explain why without spoiling but I think Tony will appreciate the comedy of it. Plus it's not like the whole OVA is a fanservice episode, if I remember correctly it's only the first segment of the episode which is like maybe 5 or 6 minutes. I understand it is an uncomfortable first 5 minutes though lol.

CK C

OVA is part of the show... And fan service is also part of the anime culture... But I think recent years fan service has reduced a lot.

The soundtrack that the guitar clicks in is called "confession", It's inspired by the theme song of a 90s show called "Tokyo love Story". It's a really iconic song. Please check it out.

urabassun

I'm pretty sure Masayuki Suzuki has done the opening song on the first take, if not the first seasons op I can't remember, definitely something fun to check out though.

Sk dragon

tony liked konosubas OVAs it's no problem

Red Menace

oof the string section at 14:50, i forgot how good the soundtrack was, i remember the op's and ed's but damn, that soundtrack has some teeth

Red Menace

no, your 100% right, though there is some variation school to school IRL of course
